44 bricks...acre shaker
Ft. Hood was my first duty station.

Easily the most fukked up place I've ever been in my life. And not even "deal with it" fukked up - it molds you as a person. I did shyt that I never imagined I ever would've prior.

Also, she's either dead or across the border. Like dozens of other soldiers who don't make the news :francis: RIP to em all
yeah my cousin....said it was bad..

she is either dead in kileen somewhere..in a ice concentration camp..

Are y’all foreal.... wtf is goin on in the Army that this type shyt is goin down regularly.......:dwillhuh:

that’d be like an airman chillin on the flight line and gettin roasted by a A10 jet engine....shyt would turn the AF upside down, but tanks runnin cats over and the Army like :hubie:......wtf
Well planes are a big deal and big ass trucks aren't :manny: yal got a whole team of specialists working on one part of a machine with double and triple checks... whereas in the army a 19 year old kid will get the keys to an uparmored vehicle regularly - a motorpool full of em

they made us wear our kevlar in the motorpool indefinitely because some kid was walking behind a truck while it was being backed up. dude had his head pinned between two vehicles. fractured his skull, lucky to be alive.
Used to be you joined the military you expect you might die. But on a battlefield somewhere. not this type of shyt.
non combat deaths have consistently been the biggest issue for a long, long time. can't imagine how bad it had to be back in the 70s and 80s
Is steroid use rampant in the military?
not as bad as most would think due to drug testing and the fact that regular PT and steroids don't mix well

Absolutely, but I would've obviously done a few things differently. Go ahead and make the jump though. If you're already thinking about it, go for it. You ain't living unless you bet on yourself a few times.

we never do that to JTACS and ALOs lol...That kind of defeats their usefulness now. I will place them on an OP with some artilleryman very fast. I love JTACs they have saved my ass many times.
Well tell me more about this airforce combat jobs cus that’s the only way I’m joining

I was fortunate to Join in 07. I can’t imagine what it must have been like pre-surge. Full patrols and moving to contact with like 4-5 people, vehicle checkpoints and outposts ran with only 3 people. fukk ALL that!
Shinseki was right, should've went in with more troops initially and not have a called a full victory.

So I've noticed many people join the armed forces (4-6 year contract) THEN go to college (4 more years). So looks like it would be 8-10 years after it's all said and done. Isn't it smarter to do reserves/national guard AND go to school? (4 years total)

The military seems like a toxic environment. Seems prudent to limit your exposure to such an environment in the form of a part-time job (reserves/national guard) while reaping the benefits (i.e.: VA loan, tuition assistance)
Reserves/NG have their own issues, lol trust me, that's a thread in itself.

USAF veteran here. Them military underground stories use be true as hell. From swinger lifestyles in base housing to prostitution .

I remember on my first deployment in the Middle East the base had to ban pink reflective belts . Turns out a bunch of woman were running a prostitution ring and identified themselves as hoes by wearing those pink belts. So if you seen that then you knew what was up.

Yes, but your job mostly determines if you’re destined for direct combat. If you’re an infantryman and under 5’7” you’ll probably have to carry the m240b/m240L.

It’s not because it’s easier for you. It’s just so your platoon sergeant or squad leader can show off how much his short guys can hump or how much cooler his short guys are than everybody else’s short guys. Expect the tallest people in your unit to randomly pick you up for no reason. Everyone seems to love really short guys in combat arms like a good luck charm or mascot. Joe’s over 6’1 seem to have a disadvantage. If they’re not exceptional at something then everyone looks at them like a useless, disgusting waste that needs to carry everything to absolve the sin of being tall for no reason.

Historically most of the Army’s vehicles are designed for people under 6’. It’s best to be average in height anywhere in the Army.

If you made it through basic and AIT then there’s no reason you wouldn’t be deployed with the rest of your BCT. If seen a guy with narcolepsy in country and another guy in his company have a heart attack and still not be allowed to go home (went to Germany then sent back to East Afghanistan) . They just sent the heart attack guy to a larger base to work with battalion support company (mechanics, truck drivers, water dudes, etc.). We had to practically rescue an infantryman who had a broken leg because they thought he was good luck and he was soft if he left.

at the bolded, YUP especially if it's combat arms or god damn a school that involves being physical lol
At the underlined, yup, only time in life I hated being tall whether it be a bradley, humvee or abrams.

I would NEVER allow my daughter to go to the military . If you think women are targeted in the civilian world..... amplify that 10x In the military . The smart ones can use that to their advantage if the know how to move . The naive and gullible ones are food unfortunately . Not saying this happened to this young woman , but just speaking in general .

I did 6 active and currently on year 7 in the guard .
It mostly depends on your personal goals . If your main goal is to get the GI bill and go to school , do 4 years. This way you can still be relatively young when you start and finish college . If you know for sure you need something stable for a while and possibly will make it a career, go 6. After BMT you start off with a little more rank , which means you get paid a little more .
