I'm a devoted aunt who loves her wonderful nieces & nephews like sons & daughters.

Can I chime in? :lupe:

please do. i been trying to find opinions on google but its mostly from middle class white women with jobs that gave em 4 months paid leave so it doesnt really help.

You should make a thread on Lipstickalley. Women there range from hoodrats to lucrative business owners. It'll give you a broader spectrum.

i tried looking at that site once cause it gets so much mention here but the format gave me a headache. ill give it a shot tho thanks.

me and the wife are in baby talks but i feel like she is too soft to go back to work after 1 or 2 months and im kinda shook about leaving an infant with a stranger.

Yeah that's hard. All my brothers baby mommas.. And I mean all of em say don't leave your baby until he/she is old enough to talk. My nieces & nephews were watched by family. I suggest giving your wife 6 months leave, then 6 months will a close family member (all mine were watched by my aunts) but I understand not everybody has that luxury. Just remember if you do go the stranger route, check for bite marks, bruises, uncontrollable crying, everyday. Search your baby from head to toe. Too many sickos.

First off :pacspit: for not giving men Paternity Leave in the states

Second, when my wife had our daughter, she quit her job and only went to school and had classes when i didnt so i could watch our daughter and vice versa. We didnt want anyone else to watch our daughter, family included. Honestly, do whatever you can before you even consider sending the baby off with a stranger

shyt terrifies me. the problem is my wife is a teacher and she doesnt have her tenure yet, so all she gets is 1 month leave. we talking now cause if she gets pregnant this month she will be due in july so she can take those 2 summer months before having to go back in september. her mom is already watching her niece so she doesnt want to give her an extra baby and my mom works monday thru friday. i really dont wanna go the stranger route tho.

i feel u on the paternity leave. im saving up my vacation time so i can take a few weeks at birth.

im up for a promotion right now and find out at the end of this month. if i get it, thats a 15k salary increase. if that happens, im gonna see if she is willing to take a year off work and focus on finishing her masters til the baby turns 1.

Breh,
If you get that promotion, that will make it that much easier, cause if she has that baby, she will realize fukking fast how much she DOESN'T want to leave the baby and it will all fall into place. My wife was having anxiety just from being away from the baby for a hour or so, it took MONTHS for her to adjust, but all this will work in your favor trying to convince her to take a year off. My wife wanted to be a nurse, work, school the whole 9, now? She doesn't want to do any of that cause she would rather be a stay at home mom and im just :blessed:
