Two WWE stars rumored to be getting new names | Wrestling News
There was a rumor making the rounds backstage last week about Chad Gable being repackaged with a new name.
Last week on SmackDown Live, there was a backstage segment featuring Shelton Benjamin talking about the King of the Ring tournament. The camera panned over and Chad Gable was near him. Benjamin looked over and called him “Shorty” before walking away.
What is interesting about this is that WWE recently filed for the “Shorty G” trademark. That would give credibility to the rumors that Gable will be repackaged under the “Shorty G” gimmick.
I was told last week that the plan is to have Gable and Benjamin team up regularly and give them a solid tag team push. I was also told that the idea was pitched to have Benjamin’s name changed to Shelty B so we could be seeing Shorty B and Shelty B teaming up on shows in the near future.
The Shorty G name might not be an ideal name for Chad Gable but anything that gets him more in-ring time should be seen as a positive.
