aka Hollywood's approval to succeed.

If we create our own industry around and control it white approval(that's what it is at the end of the day) wouldn't matter. Hollywood's approval would be null void. Unless we decide to include em in that shyt too.

I made a thread about this before, she wins a fukking Oscar for a role that was AMAZING, don't think I've ever been shook from a female role like that before

Then she doesn't get a damn role after that and isn't even invited to award shows :heh:

I knew they wanted her ass out

I don't watch award shows like that, but that is something else :ohhh:

I don´t see the reason Monique is complaining. The bytch is negative and one of the most non-funny black comedians in Hollywood. She has really set a low standard for the black status quo in Hollywood, she was riding off the fame of Brandy but never paid respects to the starlet ,not even after getting Brandy was integreal in Monique getting a spin off sitcom. The bytch is very brash and rude at many celebrity events, and it has been the talk of the Tinseltown for years. I say she reaps what she sows.

Monqiue needs to stop complaining ,you´re not getting any acting roles because you can´t fullfill the expectations of whats needed in these Coming of Age scripts. The only reason Monique´plays Mad Black Woman roles is because she is one in real life.So don´t bytch and moan.I wish she was blackballed though it would be a brighter day in Hollywood.

Mo'Nique: I'm 'difficult', 'tacky' and was blackballed after Oscar win
Precious star who won best supporting actress award five years ago says Hollywood has shunned her for being ‘tactless’ and that parts in subsequent Lee Daniels movies were offered to her then given to Oprah Winfrey

The Oscar-winning actor Mo’Nique has claimed she was “blackballed” by Hollywood following her victorious turn as an abusive mother in the harrowing 2009 Lee Daniels drama Precious.

In an essay to be published in the 27 February issue of the Hollywood Reporter, seen by E! News, the 47-year-old actor said she only found out a few months ago that she had been deemed persona non grata by studios.

“I got a phone call from Lee Daniels,” said the actor. “And he said to me, ‘Mo’Nique, you’ve been blackballed.’ I said, ‘Why?’ And he said, ‘Because you didn’t play the game.’”

The actor reminded her director that she famously did not campaign for her best supporting actress Oscar win in 2010.

Mo’Nique goes on to suggest that her absence from the screen - the actor has just a handful of relatively minor film and television credits between 2009 and last year’s Blackbird - is because she is “difficult,” “tactless” or “tacky”, adding: “That’s why I have my beautiful husband because he’s so full of tact. I’m just a girl from Baltimore. But being from that place, you learn not to let anybody take advantage of you.”

Mo’Nique cites two roles eventually taken by Oprah Winfrey, that of Forest Whitaker’s wife in Daniels’ The Butler and that of Richard Pryor’s grandmother in a forthcoming Daniels biopic, as examples of parts she was initially offered but later discovered she had lost. “They all just went away,” she said.

Daniels issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, which reads: “Mo’Nique is a creative force to be reckoned with. Her demands through Precious were not always in line with the campaign. This soured her relationship with the Hollywood community. I consider her a friend. I have and will always think of her for parts that we can collaborate on, however the consensus among the creative teams and powers thus far were to go another way with these roles.”

what's dope is how lee daniels just told her flat out... and more important... released a statement backing her words up 150%

he could have been a scared nikka... "nah i didn't say that.. what i had meant was....."

but he came right out and said "yea she's dope as fukk, she had different demands, and THOSE PEOPLE shot me down when I tried to give her roles" and laid the blame right at their feet instead playing company man :salute:

Work for free brehs :heh:

gif_no_monique.gif

It's not working for free. If she campaigns for a movie and it does well PLUS she wins an award, it helps her career.

I take it you don't try to do extra to move up in your career

No it isn't. All she had to do was some damn promos for a low budget film.

Yall always turn shyt into something racial. She's an a$$hole and don't nobody wanna work with her. That's why. Kevin Hart said the same fukking thing to Sony and they stay throwing roles at dude to the point I'm sick of his face.
And those sony execs said they should not promote kevin harts next 2 movies just so he can bomb and fade back to obscurity. So shut the fukk up when you dont know what you're talking about :camby:

Hollywood looks at black entertainers as guest or undocumented workers, so when one of these actresses or actors uses leverage against a group of people who live by using leverage they lose their cac jew minds. shyt, they were talking about fukkin denzel in those emails saying it might not be good to be him in an action flick because nobody wants to see a blackman doing action. fukkin denzel :dead:

They also talked shyt about Angelina Jolie and a whole bunch of other fukking actors. I'm not gonna pretend like Monique is some fukking pillar of the black community that got wronged. You can if you want to, but I ain't. She an a$$hole. She admitted she an a$$hole. She wanted to be on her own shyt and this is what happened. For as much shyt as they talked about Kevin they still promoting the shyt outta all his fukking movies. My point still stands homie. It looks like you the one that don't know what the fukk you talkin about
