I have and 08 impala and had to get my transmission rebuilt as well but I know it was from riding around on 22 inch rims for and extended period of time. After the rebuild it runs great though (riding 20s now). My only has around 105k miles on it though as I been working overseas so long and it just sits in storage. It's good to know that yours is almost at 200k. I plan on repainting mine and fixing the little issues (like 2 of the windows not rolling down) then it should be good to drive for a long time. It'll act as my second car as well whenever I decide to buy another vehicle.

Quick question why would the rim size wear on the transmission???? :ohhh::dwillhuh: Wouldnt that be part of the suspension issues???

If you got some non OEM 20 inch rims for an impala that's only built to handle 17s.. You're gonna have issues later down the road because you can adjust the brakes and suspension but you need to hire certified dudes to recalibrate the gearing or shift points. Bigger rims mean bigger wheels.. The engine has to put more power down to get that bytch moving and the transmission is still thinking you got regular rims so it might overcompensate by keeping itself in too high a gear or to low a gear for too long. Eventually it'll start to eat itself up if you don't it corrected

Everything he said. You have to think those 22 inch rims we a lot heavier than the factory rims.

Also my suspension was affected as well in regards to 'Tire Rods'. I've replace them at least 3 times. Good thing I got the lifetime warranty on them when I bought them. Brakes and rotors were not really affected. Just those tire rods. smh.

I don't have any problems with the 20s though. I auctally have the factory 20s off the 2015 impala on my 08 now. Had to get them redrilled though to fit and mine are powder coated to look like a hyperchrome (black/chrome ish)

An SRT? They usually offer "22 OEM rims options from the factory (so the whip could handle them easily) and you got the eight speed joint from Daimler in there so you should be good fam.

Yep, I put some aftermarket 20's on my car 2 years ago. I still have them now and you are 100% right on the tie rods. I have replaced them twice already and I'm looking to do it again because you can't get the alignment right if you have a bad set on there. And also if the tie rods are bad, your alignment is bad and it will wear your tires unevenly and you will be replacing your tires within a year. I've seen it happen. So, my issues is a slipping transmission, tie rods, my rear window defroster has stopped working, and my actuators are clicking. I'm going to get everything fixed at one time. And after I get that done, I'll be looking to rent different SUV's. Unless I see a really good deal on a car I really want. I will say this, I won't pay more for my car note than I pay for rent. So my rent is $610 a month so I won't be paying more than that. I'm hoping that my note is more in the $450-$500 range. Now if I can get what I really want for cheaper then that's what I'll do but for what I'm looking for, the price will be about $450-$500 a month.

Yea I plan on keeping it, but Im tired of SUVs, I want a car. I'm finally at point now where I can get a somewhat nice one

Well I'm thinking imma wait another year. In 2017 I could probably find a 2014 Q50 for maybe 25k payment around $350 after the down payment. I'm in between that infiniti and a Cadilla ATS, just wish the ATS had the horse power that the infiniti does
I have always been a fan of Infiniti. My ex-wife has a 2006 M35 and I loved that car. If you ever test drive the Q50, you will definitely want to buy it. To tell you the truth, I was looking at a M56/Q70 but since my ex-wife has an Infiniti I'm looking for something different. But they are good cars and if you find the right people the maintenance is not expensive.

This was the exact truck I rented and I was very impressed. I heard that they have a diesel model now that you can get up to 700 miles on one tank of gas. If I get one, I would probably get the diesel model. The only thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger is I don't know how well the diesel is holding up with it being a fairly new engine and all the transmission issues that Dodge/Jeep have been having. I know someone personally that ended up having get Jeep to buy them another truck because they couldn't figure out and solve the transmission problems. Then I know someone else personally that has never had a problem with their Jeep. So it's just a crap shoot.

insurance doesn't fully protect the down payment I live in Chicago, so say I drop 10k on a 65k car which the m3 is, and it gets stolen I lose my 10k. Another thing is in Illinois you gotta pay taxes on the down payment amount.
Huh? How is that possible? Insurance pays out whatever they deem the car to be worth. If you put down 1/6 of the price right off the bat then obviously the car will be worth more than what you owe on it. You'll get the difference. That's a really low down payment for a 65k car, btw.
