In the suburban (surrounding area is not diverse,) rehabilitation clinic i work at the last 5 new Physical Therapists are from India. In total the rehab therapist staff consists of 1 Japanese, 1 Taiwanese, 5 Indians and just 2 (White) Americans. It's crazy man. The 4 Indian therapists all pool together in one car, and live in one bedroom apartments in the same complex. Each of them makes 80+ a year too. :whew: Their hustle is amazing. One only been in the U.S 2 years, and already adjusted completely.

but if that person wasnt there you would have to pay 11

by you paying 10 you are pushing somebody out of a job and on top of that you are expanding inequality

the confusion comes from the fact that paying somebody 10 dollars does help the economy, it helps the upper class and it helps the immigrant, the only person that gets screwed is the native that wants 11 dollars

1. Depends on the type of job, business, and industry:
  • Some jobs will opt-in to pay more (if they are able to) while some will simply shut down operations are downsize to a more managable operation. If I can't find anyone to wash for 10 maybe I'll up the price if I feel it's worth paying more to get my car wash.
2. It works both ways for minimizing immigration and eliminating immigrants:
  • Even if you were to remove the immigrants from the sector some jobs are so dependent on them that's the only way they manage to stay in business (i.e. farming). This is why you can buy produce at a grocery mart for such a low price. Now that company can CHOOSE to pay more if it will help them succeed but if they profits don't exceed the cost it won't be worth the business to stay in operation.

there is no getting around the fact that immigration hurts native low education low skilled workers, and there is no question that immigration helps business make more profit and helps educated worker move up

the real question is what your priorities are

if helping business and corporations and the upper class is your priority then immigration is good, if the low skilled worker and addressing inequality is a priority then immigration is bad

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/immigration-economics.225111/#post-8930557

his point is that immigration isnt good or bad, it has winners and losers
I watched this while trying to get some shyt ready for an audit and while i only caught like 80% of it...wow.

Anyone who wants to discuss immigration needs to watch this, particularly the first presentation.

In any shifting open economy there is always someone winning or losing. But I also remember showing you an article that outlined the increase in native born citizens finishing school and graduating for better career opportunities. There are even native born citizens that only qualify for unskilled labor jobs but still would rather work a less labor-intensive job that provides more pay and better benefits. When you look at the unemployment numbers its not JUST people that can't find work but a lot of the numbers include those that just will NOT work.
