WFH is wildly inefficient. I work in Wealth Management. You can only Zoom so much when we are moving in real-time. It's very difficult to keep people on task and accountable. I'm seeing this as an Associate. If I can see that at the ground level, then EDs, MDs and above can see it as well.

It's gotten so bad that last Summer, the entire firm has been tracked via our Virtual Desktop to monitor how much time we're spending online. We're far from the only ones spying on employees from home. They say productivity is up, but if people are working from 9 to 8, of course productivity is going to be up.

WFH is a privilege. It's not a right. That's a philosophy I'm not going to budge on.
In your industry. Sounds like your work in fast paced finance?

I work in MFG, and not being there when the people making the shyt are there, doesn't work out. So I see where you're coming from. But you're painting a broad brush for a small % of the workforce.

This isn't a WFH problem, this is a personnel problem. Managing your time and being disciplined to perform your job is a required skill whether you're in the office or not. This is akin to a person getting up and making it to work on time daily. If your employees required wakeup calls and transportation to and from the office on a daily basis, you'd hire other employees.

I also see this as a potential company culture issue where a lot of people feel a certain way about "paying" for the 10 minutes someone may decide to do a load of laundry or wash dishes inside of what they consider company time. Inefficiencies in WFH exist in certain areas for certain industries but none of what you mentioned is a real inefficiency.

Got an invite to a zoom meeting tomorrow... Titled "Workspace Clearing". My company isn't renewing the lease on my office building so they want to coordinate employees going in to get their stuff.

I got my shyt out last October :mjlol:

And like Will Smith said in Bad Boys to Reggie... "I just got out the [office] and I ain't going back! I ain't going back :birdman:"

Going forward, if a role ain't offering the opportunity to work from home damned near 100% of the time, that's a dub for me.
