I think the silhouettes are Sindel (left), Shang Tsung (middle), and Nightwolf (right). My theory is that their intervention was orchestrated by Kronika or someone else. They existed outside of time under Kronika's protection to carry out her plan to erase Raiden from history. Tsung is there to convince Liu Kang that balance in the new era can only exist if Raiden ceases to exist.
