People call me a Drake stan all the time, so it's obvious that I'm a fan.
His biggest feature of that year was a single no one remembers (Timbo - Say something).
Drake was bigger so was Lil Wayne with the
No Ceilings mixtape, the Young Money compilation album, features, and his upcoming incarceration. Wayne was still the biggest and most polarizing figure in hip hop still to that point. '09 was Young Money's year with Wayne still living off his
Carter 3 best rapper alive hype, Birdman dropping an album, and Drake/Nicki Minaj/Tyga/Jay Sean all coming up.
Drake had Best I Ever Had which sold 3 million copies as a single, Successful which was a huge song too and went Gold, I'm Goin' In and Uptown got a lot of love too and the
So Far Gone EP went Gold and the mixtape was one of the biggest ever.
That song with Timbo wasn't his biggest feature. It was probably BedRock with YM, followed by Money To Blow off Birdman album which went Platinum, then Every Girl with YM, then I Invented Sex from Trey Songz album, then the Throw It In The Bag Remix with Fabolous and Dream. He was everywhere dude was on Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige's albums too.
Jay had some huge singles with Rihanna and Alicia Keys but
Blueprint 3 was mediocre, Jay was a legend already Drake was the fresher artist and the youth had kinda moved on from Jay. It's not always who sells the most albums.
