Watched the video and he HIMSELF wasn't saying that he believed that Black folk aren't smart enough. He was speaking from the viewpoint of the people that own those check cashing/liquor store spots

What you bozos who keep saying "no body listened to the video"

Nah bytch, when you insinuate as a black person that black people aren't smart enough, you are validating white supremacy.

Cacs don't look at you and differentiat. They see your black ass, whether rich or poor, as the same.

That's how you can tell the mega c00ns on this site. They understand so they debase their blackness to fit in.

Facts. It was still a very poor choice of words from someone that is a legit expert in the field of using words. His intent was clear.

Folks would just rather attack Kevin than face the facts that plenty of people, of any race for that matter, remain trapped.

If people knew anything about dude they would know that earlier in his career he ran into some very serious tax problems because of his own admitted financial illiteracy, and as a result, ended up doing a lot of movies and specials to pay uncle sam. It's also why damn near everyone around him has/had their own company.

The black community is under banked it has more to do with the lack of access than it does with black people not being smart enough to bank. Back when the post office did banking black people banked at the same rates as white people because it was insured by the government and they had regular access to it.
Access?

Takes 15 mins to open a bank account online and set up direct deposit. I don’t know any black people without access to that

More like people in the hood living check to check don't want to fukk with overdraft fees, maintenance fees, and whatever else bullshyt fees banks cook up to get more of their money. Meanwhile, Habib at the 'beer depot' will charge you like 10 at most to cash your check.
I wouldn't normally nikka please someone because you have a partial point. But nikka please. Respectfully lol.

The amount of digital banking apps without fees is at an all time high. Also, a lot if not most people don't have enough money or credit to cover basic shyt, for whatever reason, without occasionally borrowing money.

So you in a vicious circle of cashing your check in a payday loan place, that is right next to a liquor store, bar, fast food spot, and depending where you live, a weed dispensary.

The money be spent before it even hits your account. And when people are put in desperate conditions, it's much harder to be disciplined and rise above it. And that's just for one person. Add a family to the mix.

I don’t love all his statements, but my life changed for the better once I got away from those areas where you’d find check cashing places and payday loan places. Once you start messing with them people, it becomes a cycle that’s hard to break. Also, I don’t know if this still happens but stores in those areas(usually ran by Asians or some shyt) would easily cash your check for you for a small fee. Once I opened a back account and learned that I could cash my check for free I was blown away. Man these conversations have to move past just being conversations man. Kevin brought up some real issues even if they come off as tough love or whatever you want to call it.
Understood but this wasn’t tough love
It’s all types of people in the hood
To deduce everything down to people aren’t smart enough to open a bank account
I grew up in the hood and had a checking account since 16 at a credit union first
Now that was due to my mother and then i had to go to BOA due to college (SF didn’t have a branch of the CU)
The connotation of the hood is so crazy to me
It’s hard working people that are smart and diligent but life circumstances happen
His conversation with a white man no less tells me of his disconnect
To be that comfortable to say that felonious shyt for a few handclaps
His assessment of liquor stores and check cashing spots don’t correlate and misses several pieces of the puzzle on why those places are set up in low income neighborhoods
If you going to go on a tangent
Make sure you speak on the whole picture
Not just the low hanging fruit like he did

Most people need physical access to the bank. They need the physical reassurance of their money’s presence. Are you going to set up an account with a bank that is all the way across town where you’ll have no physical access to it with expending a great deal of time and energy to get to it. Moreover direct deposit has real been a common thing for the past twenty years, when I was working retail around 2008-2010 when jobs really started offering it before then people were getting checks and many still are so physical access still matters.
