Looking how this gen has ended, I pretty much doubt that most games will hit 4k120. Heck, I doubt that games will hit 4K60 next gen without done sort of checkerboard or 1440p upscaled in the early part of the gen.

If you already have a 4k 60hz TV, you shouldn't have to buy a new TV anytime soon.

Games will determine how nextgen will pan out.

Mark this post down, if I'm alive next year and I'm wrong, you all are free to neg me.

Man, if its two catchphrases that's stinking up the game industry its "FPS" and "anti consumer". :francis:
anybody gaming since at least the 90s knows this isnt true. PC gamers and console gamers who played arcade ports needed to know how a game would run on their platform. the arcade reason is gone now, but raising resolution, loading larger game worlds into RAM, and adding extra effects like ray tracing is bringing FPS back into importance. some of these publishers will force devs to make a game look pretty even if it runs like crap just because the screenshots sell the game.

as for anti consumer, im glad people understand when they are getting screwed. companies that keep putting more and more of their game behind DLC are devaluing what paying the intiial $60 is for.

It's really all up to developers though. They can make games that can hit 4k 120fps, but graphical fidelity would be less than if they put it all into looking as pretty and detailed as possible at 30fps.

never gonna happen until they can get away with charging us 110 bucks for a game with no price drops.
