I can almost understand leaving the 9yr old with the toddler if the car was running kuz my mom started letting me stay at home by myself when i was 8-9, but it's not the same. Just take the kids in with you, even if you expect to only be 5 min. It takes less than that amount of time for the unexpected to happen.
