NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
what does that have to do with rap?

it wasnt. it was just a cool song in comparison to the real popular songs at the time. hence, the reason why i vaguely recall the remix. and im not into idol worship, so the whole "she did a song with MICHAEL JACKSON" thing does nothing for me. this wasnt the same mike from the '60s-80s breh.

of course he did those numbers worldwide. hes michael jackson. but nobody cared like that anymore. i remember when "you rocked my world" dropped and got lukewarm reactions. every dog has his day. mike had his. hes not God. besides, that butterfly song was out nearly a year before jade's album anyway, so this argument is pointless.

as for the last comment, eve was more popular as a brand than a rapper by this point. same thing with lil kim, who hasnt dropped an album worth writing home about in 18 years, yet shes still ALL IN THE VIDEO to this very day.

nah. hes right about that. lesbianest, lil kim aint been poppin like that since biggie died. shes been a glorified rap socialite ever since.

EVE had the best rap career since the salt n pepa/mc lyte/latifah eras. but she was CLEARLY about done by the end of '02, and stopped putting music out at the perfect time. your post is proof positive of how great she preserved her legacy. when you step off at the right time, people tend to forget when you were cold out here.

i dont really count nicki minaj cuz rap is different now and longevity is based purely off politics now. plus, she was un-contested as virtually the only female rapper for 4 years, up until recent months. AND shes half sellout-pop.
son u can't even be serious wit this shyt u writing...do u think ur opinions change history or some shyt?...or that they automatically = fact?..I was a DJ all thru that time nikka I know what was poppin and what the people wanted on a wide scale cause I was playing music for a large variety of people....not just nikkas I'm cool wit...people fukked wit Butterflies...that shyt was like on every RnB mixtape and people requested me to spin that shyt all the time..and u telling me Lil Kim wasn't shyt since Biggie died when she had her BIGGEST and one of the biggest female hip hop singles to date with Lady Marmalade in 01?...and her second album The Notorious K.I.M was the highest selling female rap album the year it dropped...she was all over the place at that time frame ..Mobb Deep Quiet Storm remix...Ray J shyt..etc etc...and when La Bella Mafia dropped shyt got 5 mics in The Source and was the highest selling female rap album that year as well....nikka if it wasn't Eve and Lil Kim than who was it?..nikka she came out in 96 and was still goin Platinum in 03...like I said..fukk is u smoking?...Nicki don't got the career Kim had...not longevity wise..album sales..or critically...both u nikkas is wrong...and funny thing is I barely ever see u admit to being wrong...and this dates back to Sohh..

you dudes ruined the board with this simpleton chit. im here to save this bi*ch tho. sit back and learn something.

@Art Barr is right. yall just follow behind the crowd of idiots that are following behind hype.

Ms Jde is dope and " the come up " is probably one of the greatest hip hop song by a female rapper but lets not go overboard brehs.

going overboard how?

are you insinuating that tink is remotely even on the same level as ms jade?:laff:

Overrated in the thread because she's being made out to be bigger than she actually was. Only a topic, because there's been like one or two topics about her previously, now she's brought up in relation to Tink.

whos doing any of the bolded?:wtf: youre just talking out your head.

and who the f*ck is TINK?? yall up here acting like shes queen latifah or somebody. chit is laughable.

she was with Ruff Ryders in '98..and Dr Dre before that...

no joke my nicca. im from philly. she went to my neighborhood high school.

i remember when she was doing songs with ram squad and went by the name "eve of destruction".

im referring to when she was active nationally. it just 99-02 with ruff ryders. she was in & out, just like @nieman said. and thats how it should be, if you have other money coming in elsewhere. props to eve for not attention-whoring and torturing us with bad albums.

:laff: at niccas throwing shade a Rah Digga... the nerve of you niccas. Only female in the Outz should tell you enough...

:what:

just because some of us are saying that shes not as good as ms jade, it doesnt mean that we're throwing shade. we didnt even bring her up. somebody stumbled in here, not knowing what the thread was about, and threw her name in the ring.

I agree Jade is lyrically better then Eve. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO with Eve being a superstar at the female level when she was at her peak and Ms.Jade never getting pass buzz status?

:beli:

its the plight of the female rapper, cannon.

just getting to buzz status as a female with no gimmick is a career achievement.

How is she too gutter for superstar status?..that dont even make sense seeing how Remy blew the fukk up off her Lean Back feature..then she was everywhere...and Remy is mad gutter..Ms Jade didnt blow cause she didnt have that ONE verse or track to make everyone notice her...simple as that..and Eve was poppin for a good 5-6 years and she kinda fell back on her music shyt to focus on her TV show...

how was eve poppin 5-6 years when she was only around for 3-4?

remy was the hottest female rapper for her time but she wasnt as big as youre making her out to be. the labels fumbled her chit just as bad as they did jade.

remy wasnt much bigger than jade. she just came out during a less-competitive period, was with a real rap team and had the benefit of being from new york.

Remy didn't blow either, she gained marginal popularity off of Lean Back but not's not act like her album didn't flop. She has that one track that they play in the clubs (Whuteva) and she fizzled. She was also with a hip-hop camp that makes street ish, not with Superfriends. But by the time Remy's album dropped, she wasn't even poppin anymore.
I disagree that she doesn't have that one track or verse. She actually has several verses, however she doesn't have those hits that cater to her style. Big Head drowns her out. Count it Off should have been a single; She's A Gangsta should have been a/THE single...Gangsta made me pay attention to her. She was doing songs with Missy and Tweet, no one who garners interest based on skills on the mic.
As far as superstar, they couldn't push her as a sex symbol, because even if she is "cute" all of her video appearances were shot bust up. If you switch her and Amil, she blows up off of that. Eve show debuted in '03. She was already "ehhhh" status by then. Her peak was '99-'02. RR appearances until her album, then her second album was '01. Let's not act like that Let Me Blow Your Mind was actually a great song. She had appearances after album 3, but she definitely wasn't poppin. She was damn near a full-time actress by then.
I think that very few female rappers gain superstar status. You have Kim, Foxy briefly, Eve had a stretch, Nicki has had the longest success. Everyone else gets in around Jade/Digga
Digga/Shawna levels. Hell, I didn't even know Jackie-O could spit

well remy did have that "conceited" hit too. both were mid-2000s radio-pandering wackness yes. BUT that song with neeyo was big on the radio and wouldve been huge if they wouldve did a video for it. DEF JAM PROLLY BLOCKED IT THO.

but yea, she only wouldve went but so far with it regardless. gutter female rap always has a ceiling of being a rap star at best. superstardom is not in the cards.

.

O i fully agree. All im saying is Jade was never in a position to blow and people on here really forgetting how big Eve was. There's only a select few females who reach superstar status. Eve was one of them. Being that Jade came out around the time Eve was really popping kinda hurt her cause the inevtiable comparisons being that they both from philly. SMDH at you downplaying the fact she was on a track with MJ.

Like i said im a Ms.Jade stan breh!

As far as Remy she only seemed to be really popping cause she came out at a time where she had no comp. It was litteraly just her at the time she was buzzing with the execption of maybe Shawnna.

i admit when im wrong plenty of times. im one of the few people that actually does that on here. i never see you admitting chit tho. you just fade off. and as for the bolded, the only person doing that is you. talembout "i was a DJ" like youre dj clue or somebody.

i never said MJ was shunned or anything like that, but he wasnt anywhere near as popular as he was in the 60s-80s, OR EVEN THE '90s. in fact, he was moreso made a mockery of 90% of the time his name was mentioned by then.

i never said people didnt like "butterfly". i like it myself. it just simply was not amongst the most popular tracks at the time. so what if it was on mixtapes AMONGST 20 OTHER SONGS, or if people were requesting it AMONGST TONS OF OTHER SONGS. what about all those other songs? alot of which were bigger and/or more popular? oh i get it. lets just disregard all that because you love mike. this is always the problem whenever we disagree. the common denominator is always an artist that you love, because you have trouble being objective. just look at the way you tried to damage my character out of nowhere. this exchange wasnt even that deep.

as for lil kim, that notorious kim album was a flop. so what if it was the highest-selling female album of 2000? who the hell else came out that year with a big push? TRINA? i bet eve's album from '99 moved more units in 2000 than lil kim did. and the rest of this is guest appearances and industry stuff, which just proves my point. GLORIFIED INDUSTRY SOCIALITE.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Why can't people just let the chick breathe. She hasn't even dropped an album and nikkas are trying to break her down. And since when does liking a new artist means they're hyping them up? :dahell:

Ms Jades accomplishments are minimum. Her impact is non existent.

this discussion is not a barometer on what tink's draw will be.
it is about her skill as an actual artist in her respective genre.
which is how the comparison to ms jade was made.
considering and taking into account, timbo's overrating of her as an artist wholeheartedly.
plus, the fact, rnb needs to back the fukk up off of rap.
which, is how and why rap is declining as a draw.
by not respecting rap and hiphop and rnb needs to stop tinkering with rap.
this was seen and known as early as force md's.
now, we are back in 1984, with this huff as rnb wants to rap and can not rap artist.

only issue i have with tink is lyrically bar to bar whether rnb or rap,..
the quality is consistently low and a detractor to her skill writing and executing hooks.
while, her skill writing hooks is top notch.
only issue is lyrically her skills are so low quality.
they act as an immediate detractor to the hook negatively.

tink's best submissions in her mixtape discography are hook/bridgy short interlude based records.
anything past that descends into lackluster unlistenable quality.
especially on the rap side,....
this is after a great hook submission generally as well, too.
