Bernie Sanders is actually the proper prototype, because he is a populist, not bought and barely ever touches the trans issues and pink colored hair type topics.

Here is the thing, all or that is convincing to you because you already agree with the Democratic side. They need Republicans to pull this off, and the Republicans will only care about their bottomline. They have not cared all the other times Trump has done something that is against regulations, the Law, etc. They want what he wants for the most part, or at least their constituents do. So, to turn the clown car around, they have to show them in no uncertain economic terms what the outcome of their actions will have on the economy.
Outside of actual conviction, it all ends up being symbolism. The only true path to conviction is bringing some from his side on to the Democratic side. The only way to do that, is to make it about money.

Breh, I agree with all of that, but symbolism is not the right way to put it. It is literally his job to make sure to check the President. Same for all of Congress. His speech in theory could move a few more people to vote to impeach. In August, a bunch of people might look back and be like "You know what, Al was right." when shyt hits the fan. As a congressman, he like everyone else tries to put things on record for numerous reasons, the current being the rebuke of flagrant constitutional abuses.
Now whether you as a citizen care about it is one thing, but unless politics really isn't your thing, you have no doubt heard people on the fence, or on the left asking "What are the Democrats doing!" Within congress and outside of congress, they are building the case for colleagues and constituents. So while Republicans are complicit, we and Al's constituency KNOWS he is not. How often do we get 11 Dems in the Senate to vote with Republicans and the headlines are "DEMOCRATS VOTE FOR XXX." They all get put into a bucket. The American people want to know who is actually against him and for whom to listen to and support. It's not all symbolism if we literally have people searching for any sign of resistance. This is one aspect of many, and aiming only for the sure thing looks like nothing is being done in the meantime which deflates supporters.

there's only a limited amount of hours in a day and a limited amount of congressional floor proposals that can be had in a session. Their time and resources will be better spent crafting real legislation or bargaining with Republicans on things that can actually change
On a cynical level, I think it's a miscalculation politically. It's extremely apparent to the American people that Trump is inept, immoral, and unqualified. The disingenuous impeachment proceedings won't convince anybody of the fact. Instead, it's more likely to rally his base during midterms as Republican congressmen with a horrible track record so far, can fall back on the fact that they defended their King from persecution . Ideally, you want an anemic Republican base during midterms

All they've done while in power is pass a budget resolution that was passed when Pelosi was running things.
Other than that they've stripped all signs of due process and are gearing up to cut vital programs, as well as backing universal tariffs that every one is saying will have us fukked up in the coming months.
Everyone is cool on here now but we're at the calm before the storm phase. These muthafukkas need to act on anything ASAP lol.
