Florida to hire Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator

Florida will hire Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier for the same role on Jim McElwain's staff, according to a report from Sports Illustrated.

Nussmeier worked with McElwain at Michigan State from 2003-05 and succeeded McElwain as offensive coordinator at both Fresno State in 2008 and Alabama in 2012.

McElwain has repeatedly stressed hiring people who are familiar with the process he wants to build the program with and making sure they're the right fit and not lone wolves looking out only for themselves.

"The one thing, the piece of advice I've gotten from many head coaches over the years is make sure you get that staff right. Be patient," McElwain told 620 WDAE in Tampa on Monday. "Make sure he checks all of the boxes with recruiting ties, with coaching ability, with like thinkers, guys that don't have separate agendas and aren't independent contractors."

At Alabama in 2012 and 2013, Nussmeier led the 31st- and 33rd-ranked units in the country in total offense. At Michigan in 2014, Nussmeier's offense finished ranked 111th nationally, averaging just 333 yards per game (5.32 yards per play, which ranked 90th nationally).

I'm cool with it. Coach Mac said he won't micro manage the coordinators either and will let them run their offense. Nussmeier did have McCarron looking like a damn legit NFL QB.

Why do I get the feeling that #6 is going to fukk around and win the starting job next year? I just have THAT feeling bruh :mjcry:
