Another song from Tales of Vesperia game from Soundtrack called "The Sound of Waves Dancing in the Soul"

:lawd:

I've always enjoyed video game music...such a great source of samples.

But yeah, I was thinking about it...and it really was hip-hop where the sampling of video games really took off. I think about this

with the street fighter sounds. That's why I love hip-hop...especially in the 80s and 90s it was filled with visionaries that were really creating something out of nothing. People might not think much of taking a SP or MPC and a turntable and sampling a record and another source...but I love that shyt. I think about the RZA i staten island concoting the first generation of Wu-Tang beats and that's my inspiration.

Do you like H.I.M?

Or Poets of The Fall?

Funny you mention H.I.M. Lol. I remember fall of 2002 I met Bam Margera in Pittsburgh and he pretty much was the reason I ever heard of that band cause I was big into skateboarding back then in my high school years and he repped that band to the death. This was after Jackass (I believe it was around the time the first Jackass movie came out and Viva La Bam aired on MTV) and he was just in Oakland chilling coming from the bar and this dude had his arm around him and said "hey...this is fukkin Bam Margera!" and I was like word.

I've met alot of famous pro skaters in my day. I actually saw Alex Olson over at Labor Skate Shop on Canal st...he was just chilling talking to people. Which was crazy cause he's like this huge pro skater now and he's got this kind of hipstery skate company called Bianca Chandon now that's getting love in i-D and stuff.

But yeah...this was around the time that I was starting to get out of punk and into house and techno. I used to be in a punk band in my high school years...I was one of two lead signers and we did like scene kid hardcore. Not like this new stuff now, but more of that post-straight edge NYC/Boston/Philly hardcore lik mad east coast with west coast influences. WE were called PFN (pants for now) did a couple of shows It was fun interacting with crowds and getting in the mosh pit. Like I love punk rock man. I've always loved punk rock. Everything from the music, the cut and paste flyers, the fashion (I love punk fashion) the political side of it, the style side of it, the idealogies and whatnot. It's just like, growing up skating in the 90s I ended uo meeting lots of differnt types of people...from punks to hip-hop kids to raves and so on and so on.

I've been listening to this...noticing the Incredible Pipe Band sample in this and all I just want to do is make music, and DJ and listen to music...

And then this shyt...like this is some heat....

I hate to say it I feel like I've been stuck in my ways musically cause alot of other things havent honestly been interesting me that much.

Like I just need to get behind a pair of turntables right now. Sometimes I feel like because that was what I pretty much excelled at the most out of anything in my life...that that was what I was meant to do. I just want to play parties mad parties and shyt. It's fun. It's relaxing. I loved the days when I had residencies and gigs...but I've been taking a break from that. But I still go out and just been living at the techno clubs and that's honestly why I'm just trying to get back into music 100%. The joy of finding new music, sharing it, and making it and listening to it is pretty much what I live by.

Which is probably why I'm still grinding to this point.:yeshrug:

The remix that Atjazz did for that Kerri Chandler track is so sick

:mjcry: :mjcry: i miss my decks and my records so much, like the op, alls i wanna do is just mix and listen to music. I need to look at getting some second hand technics soon, its been too long.

Word. I listen to house music...I'll go to this club here in BRooklyn, and it's just so much fun to listen to house and techno on big speakers and just dance! Like it's funny, I'm a pretty good dance and I just love going there and letting loose! The vibe is always right...everybody's dancing having a good time, the music is on point, but every night I'm there I always end up standing behind the DJ booth and seeing what the DJ is doing and what equipment he's using...all it makes me want to do is DJ. There are so many parties and DJs here and producers...it's awesome.

I sold my records and got rid of my old decks. I feel like it was like the biggest mistake of my life. I had so many records, but life goes on. The loss was so monumental that I couldn't even bring myself to look at records cause it made me wish I had my collection to spin. Like I had everything. House, UK Hard House, Garage, Progressive House, Tribal, Acid House, Techno, Tech House, Minimal, Experimental, Ambient, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Hip-hop, breaks, R&B, funk, sould, reggae, dancehall, disco, mash-ups, baile funk, baltimore club, dj tools...I was just all about collecting vinyl from 1999-2009 before I sold that.

Deep House is what I've been infatuated with now though. I swear, that stuff brings my soul at ease. I like listening to that stuff and thinking about life an dpondering my existence on this planet. I love that shyt! With the atmospheric and wafty synths, the deep and bubbling basslines, the chilled yet funky percussion. I like it because it's chill..but you can still dance to it

Which leads me to this track I made...

I just like making deep house...eventually I want to get this pressed on vinyl.

Atjazz is dope. So is Kerri Chandler. I've been listening to his stuff alot more. I've actually been feeling that 90s deep chicago house alot.

You ever check out Boo Williams? Dude is a legend in chicago and pretty much in the house/electronica community.

This track is fukkin amazing...

And this is just a masterpiece.

:dwillhuh: So i gather from this post that you really love punk rock lol?
My first loves will always be hip-hop/R&B but when it comes to other genres there are some i love more but i can't deny that as a whole listening to music is one of my most favorite thing ever. Listen i work in accounting and my boss allows me to listen to my headphones at work. I dont know how i would make it through the day sometimes If i couldnt.

Btw @frush11 I've just been making mixes with virtual dj now while I save up money to buy new tables.
This is the third soul chips and it just more lo-fi and like mystical sounding. This is pretty much where I'm at DJ wise now

I'm trying to get eitehr a pair of reloop tables or some brand new pioneers...but techs are pretty cheap nowadays on ebay arent they?

Edit: Speaking of Kerri Chandler I threw "Atmospheric Beats" in this mix.

I love ambient too. I've made ambient tracks just because I like hearing different type of sounds play out and change and the nuances expose themselves.

Okay...while making this htread I had this in my headphones.

The first 30 minutes of this set ist straight up ambient/experimental...I love it. I used to mess around with ableton when it first came out and use the vsts to change sounds and just record the results. This was around 2003.

But yeah, my dad would always play ambient music ontape like Mike Oldfield and tangerine dream to put me and my older sister to sleep when we were little. That's where my appreciation for ambient music comes from.

Here are some more of the songs that I'm currently listening to:

^^ I suggest listening to this song in its entirety because there is a guitar rift at the end that I really like.
