I'm so surprised you mention Nine Inch Nails. I'm black but I was f*cking with their music back then. I think I was 13 and I wasthat I dig this song
Do you like H.I.M?
Or Poets of The Fall?

I've been listening to this...noticing the Incredible Pipe Band sample in this and all I just want to do is make music, and DJ and listen to music...
And then this shyt...like this is some heat....
I hate to say it I feel like I've been stuck in my ways musically cause alot of other things havent honestly been interesting me that much.
Like I just need to get behind a pair of turntables right now. Sometimes I feel like because that was what I pretty much excelled at the most out of anything in my life...that that was what I was meant to do. I just want to play parties mad parties and shyt. It's fun. It's relaxing. I loved the days when I had residencies and gigs...but I've been taking a break from that. But I still go out and just been living at the techno clubs and that's honestly why I'm just trying to get back into music 100%. The joy of finding new music, sharing it, and making it and listening to it is pretty much what I live by.
Which is probably why I'm still grinding to this point.![]()

i miss my decks and my records so much, like the op, alls i wanna do is just mix and listen to music. I need to look at getting some second hand technics soon, its been too long.
Atjazz is dope. So is Kerri Chandler. I've been listening to his stuff alot more. I've actually been feeling that 90s deep chicago house alot. The remix that Atjazz did for that Kerri Chandler track is so sick
Funny you mention H.I.M. Lol. I remember fall of 2002 I met Bam Margera in Pittsburgh and he pretty much was the reason I ever heard of that band cause I was big into skateboarding back then in my high school years and he repped that band to the death. This was after Jackass (I believe it was around the time the first Jackass movie came out and Viva La Bam aired on MTV) and he was just in Oakland chilling coming from the bar and this dude had his arm around him and said "hey...this is fukkin Bam Margera!" and I was like word.
I've met alot of famous pro skaters in my day. I actually saw Alex Olson over at Labor Skate Shop on Canal st...he was just chilling talking to people. Which was crazy cause he's like this huge pro skater now and he's got this kind of hipstery skate company called Bianca Chandon now that's getting love in i-D and stuff.
But yeah...this was around the time that I was starting to get out of punk and into house and techno. I used to be in a punk band in my high school years...I was one of two lead signers and we did like scene kid hardcore. Not like this new stuff now, but more of that post-straight edge NYC/Boston/Philly hardcore lik mad east coast with west coast influences. WE were called PFN (pants for now) did a couple of shows It was fun interacting with crowds and getting in the mosh pit. Like I love punk rock man. I've always loved punk rock. Everything from the music, the cut and paste flyers, the fashion (I love punk fashion) the political side of it, the style side of it, the idealogies and whatnot. It's just like, growing up skating in the 90s I ended uo meeting lots of differnt types of people...from punks to hip-hop kids to raves and so on and so on.
So i gather from this post that you really love punk rock lol?I've always enjoyed video game music...such a great source of samples.
But yeah, I was thinking about it...and it really was hip-hop where the sampling of video games really took off. I think about this
with the street fighter sounds. That's why I love hip-hop...especially in the 80s and 90s it was filled with visionaries that were really creating something out of nothing. People might not think much of taking a SP or MPC and a turntable and sampling a record and another source...but I love that shyt. I think about the RZA i staten island concoting the first generation of Wu-Tang beats and that's my inspiration.

I love LOVE ambient music. These are some of my favorite ambient songs/artists:
^^I'm pretty sure this last one isn't ambient, but its another one of my "chill" songs.
