This video reminded me of my flopped inactive thread about NOI not being considered real muslims and how Black muslims feeling the need to act/talk/dress like a Pakistani to feel like areal muslim
Of course the Minister fearlessly addresses these points and the racism in Islam

Minister Louis Farrakhan is not a Muslim and his response

Minister needs to take his inferiority complex elsewhere. No man can "make you feel" like you have to imitate him. That's on you.

I've been Muslim my whole life and never dressed like no damn Bedouin :gucci:

Some Muslims try to dress like the earliest generations out of respect, others just try to imitate whatever ethnic culture they learned the Deen from. But again, that's their own choice.

There's nothing in the religion that forces you to dress like a certain culture. The only obligation is that the requirements of modesty should be met, i.e certain parts of the body need to be covered properly, no silk for men, no imitation of the opposite gender etc..

The Prophet pbuh was gifted garments from Persia and wore them. Polytheists, Jews and Christians in arabia wore turbans and had long beards. Muslims didn't just magically change their mode of dress after they embraced the Deen.

In most parts of the world, Muslims dress in ways that are culturally distinct. Malaysians/Indonesians are easily distinguished from Arabs for example. Turks and Indians are different.

The problem is that some people who embrace Salafism force the Saudi cultural garments on others and some ignorant people just obey them. You see this a lot in Africa sadly.

:blessed: our arab brothers

I treat people according to how they behave. Some Arabs I'm cool with, in fact some of the kindest people I've met were Arab (I grew up amongst them) but most of them are trash tbh.

Some of them use religion as a vehicle for their ethnic chauvinism. I just don't mingle with those types :manny:

Plus we have our own mosques, schools etc as Somalis so we don't really rely on them. In fact, they tend to come to our mosques moreso than vice versa.

A real Muslim can be a racist but not part of the Nation of Islam :mjlol:

Racism and Islam cannot mix, and i never said that don't lie on my name

Behold! Verily, you have no virtue over one with white skin or black skin, except by favor of righteousness.

The Prophet (ṣ) would rebuke his companions if they ever denigrated people because of their race, lineage, or status. In one well-known incident, he sternly criticized his companion Abu Dharr for disrespecting Bilal because he was of African descent and had dark skin color.

Abu Umamah reported: Abu Dharr reproached Bilal about his mother, saying, “O son of a black woman!” Bilal went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he told him what he said. The Prophet became angry and then Abu Dharr came, although he was unaware of what Bilal told him. The Prophet turned away from him and Abu Dharr asked, “O Messenger of Allah, have you turned away because of something you have been told?” The Prophet said:

Have you reproached Bilal about his mother? By the one who revealed the Book to Muhammad, none is more virtuous over another except by righteous deeds. You have none but an insignificant amount.

He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism.

O people, your Lord is one and your father Adam is one. There is no favor of an Arab over a foreigner, nor a foreigner over an Arab, and neither white skin over black skin, nor black skin over white skin, except by righteousness. Have I not delivered the message?

My point is: non-Arab Muslims generally do not use Arabs as a point of reference when it comes to religion. Turks have Turkish scholars that they go to, Somalis have Somali scholars etc.. The way that the minister worded his comment made it seem like Arabs are the standard bearers or something.

Their status took a sharp decline shortly after the last righteous khalifa. It's been non-Arabs who have been holding it down since then.

Saying elijah muhammad was a messenger after Muhammad SAW the lat messenger is enough to make you non-muslim.

The nation of Islam did a lot of good for the black community in the US. In fact, there's a lot to learn from the way they organized their community in a short span of time and transformed thousands of lives, probably even more.

Yeah, from our perspective they had some very problematic beliefs. But if it wasn't for them, many black brothers and sisters in America would not have found the Deen.
