real dope...if you got time could you share the process that went into this?

Yeah the process started with a pitchdeck/moodboard, (for a music video) it's a powerpoint where you break down your concept scene by scene and you get as specific with visual references for each scene as possible. How long or short that is depends on what's going on with the art direction, the # of shots in the scene, the # of locations, etc. You use that document during pre-production to get your team on the same page as you by the time you're filming.

Next thing you do is a budget breakdown. Like I mentioned earlier I got the locations through a work-trade so I spent my budget on my crew (including feeding them) prop rentals/purchases (swords, astronaut suit, warning beacon light, etc.) and some equipment rental. Depending on what you (or your crew) have access to you may end up spending more or less on equipment rental. Always make sure you got a 10% contingency in case anybody or anything (rental, location, etc.) drops out at the last minute.

I did all the post-production (editing, grading, etc.) so I only spent money during production. If I had paid an editor & a colorist on this one I probably would've spent the same amount of money (if not a little more) on them that I spent on the entirety of filming.

Good preparation & resourcefulness is 80% of what goes into something like this.

Really appreciate that breakdown. You're talented as hell. The concept was executed well. When you morphed into the astronaut and the sky changed I was blown away. This is original and dope AF. All your cuts/transitions were real smooth. The video amplified a song that is already great. Gotta salute. If you got IG drop it and I'll follow. If you on band camp I'll cop and support. I added the album to my Spotify. You the MC or do production?

I went back and watched the video for Elevators (Me and You) today for the first time in like 20 years :banderas: I miss when videos would regularly make you think in their own right even beyond what the song was about.

Good shyt man. I didn't have access to The Coli when this dropped but I'm here now.

Fred.

NH The cypher wasn't complete without @hex stamping it :wow:
