I wonder how many of you guys whose dads' got around really make the effort to break the cycle? As a woman, the scary part is wondering if the cycle of infidelity and illegitimacy will continue to perpetuate. And how has the man learned how to be a faithful husband and father when he did not live it himself. Just thoughts...not condemnations.

My father has 6. Im the youngest...his other son has his name and I found them on facebook around 3 years ago.

He was 26, married with 5 kids (1 illegitimate already) and I was the 2nd b*stard child. My mother was fresh out of HS at 18 years old...
My granny told my mother to stop talking to him before I was born...they moved and they fell out of contact. Hence my grandmother is a major reason I didn't know my father for 24 years...

He had real estate, and a flower shop (florist), which also had tailors on staff making dresses and suits for weddings. The shop allowed for plenty of importing to the islands, so he prolly did other street shyt (which I heard of). He was locked up for hitting banks, and rumors of nikkas going missing. My dad was a hustler 60-90s, which was a different era. Especially in the islands.

The only career move advice he ever gave me was never be no cop... he would put me in public school if that's what I wanted to for a living. Told me that in grade 6, he died when I was in 7th. I can remember how the household changed when his money stopped coming in (my mom was not his wife).

I respect him... even if women/kids was his "problem", could have been born to a nikka with 2 kids who didn't do shyt for em. I respect the drive he gave me always having fat roll of cash on him, the nice cars, his charisma. No he didn't have the time to do lil shyts with me (like play basketball), but he held my family down. And he was my mom only love, no other dude stepped in that house. Plus respected in the streets... "Oh you Schemer son?" his nickname was coming up with schemes.. hustler
Coli shouldnt be surprised he had so many women choosing/ 32 kids

nikka was literally Tupac in a business suit :pachaha:

Thanks for responding.

I do believe that the subject of this thread is one of the reasons that the existence of the traditional nuclear family is seen as "abnormal" for black American families. Its as if asking for a marriage in which both partners are faithful to each and attentive to their children is somehow like reaching for the stars. Its not to say that this does not happen in other cultures/communities but why do "we" not view multiple "baby mamas/daddies" as dysfunctional?

You know...very dysfunctional, and instead of these fools acknowledging the dysfunction and attempting to stop the cycle they just keep it going. That goes for both women and men.

I got married and had 2 sons (from an Italian). Divorced and remarried (black American woman if that matters) , and now have a stepson. People are attempting to stop the cycle.
