...So, one day, he gets the bright idea to sell a newspaper he had autographed. Now, this is a Philly newspaper, local sports (from like 1995-96) of Kobe declaring for draft. He said he got it signed as a joke, it was wrinkled, and only got Kobe to sign it because he made the front and the back of the paper. As in, "Yo - you made the front page AND the backpage of the newspaper - wtf. Sign both sides because this may be worth something fool"
So, fast forward - he brings the newspaper to the shop, and they say "- is 13 cool for this??"
He said "Hell YEA, $1300 for a old newspaper, damn!"
He says the shop owner is like ", $13,000"
So, my homeboy says, not only did I end up not making $13,000, but I ended up spending $100. To get it framed.
That's the frame that is still on his wall to this day, and I may even get a pic for yall one day, if it isn't too creepy.
Kobe is worth some $$$.
More actual personal Kobe & his cousins stories coming soon![]()
You can't snitch on a cop. Why'd he snitch on shaq?![]()
He went to my high school in Philly (George Washington Carver High School of Engineering & Science (E&S for short). He's a lot older than me....like the class of 1999-2000 (Marc Lamont Hill also attended around the same time as him). I attended from 2000-2004.
Kobe feelings were hurt
So, I found the photos I took 4-5 years ago at my boys house and uploaded them - this is the “front page/back page” newspaper from my story above: Kobe newspaper hanging in my boys crib to this day
& crazy I never posted the Kobe calling my phone story!!! Tomorrow!!!
Damn that's crazy similar to how I was introduced to Kobe. My family wasnt big on sports but my sister used to talk about Kobe because of Brandy as well. She used to love Kobe. She was crying so hard on Sunday smhGreat thread breh it's crazy how a game a sport can connect ppl in so many ways I didn't start playing ball til 96 (3rd grade)when bulls won so that's my first time hearing glued to the TV screen watching basketball outside of NBA I got hipped to college n little bit of high school bball circuit so you either had to hear these urban legends as kid or witness greatness in person I'm just thinking how the world would of been if technology was giving to the public in the 90smy older sister graduated hs same yr as kobe I always use to hear bout was him taking Brandy to his prom that shyt was
crazy to me u see a Brandy cd on the table then u see Kobe for the first time with a teenage r&b star that's in my sister's age group senior class in my head was like iknow whoever this dude Kobe was he was that nikka

I was watching a video a few weeks ago and Jaleel White telling TMZ he watched Kobe absolutely destroying people at UCLA back in the day. No tape makes these stories better.Legler was on golics show this morning saying how he went to the gym one summer to run a pickup game and while he was getting taped up, he saw this skinny kid killing people - established college players. He asked the trainer who was that and he was like, "that's joe bryant's kid. He's 15."...Legler was like wtf.
Yesterday, matt barnes was saying how in 98 when he was at ucla, kobe would be at ucla's gym practicing and playing pickup games. He was like he used to marvel at him and be like "this dude is incredible. How is he not playing? He looks like Jordan out there. If he's not playing, aint none of us got a shot."
