The fact that he apparently has full custody of his child and still had to go to jail. Are these for the payments that are in the arrears?
He should've provided the courts with that information then so they order could be changed.

Never understood why they imprisonment as punishment for failing to pay child support. Being imprisoned means losing a job, a criminal record which makes it harder to get a job and pay child support, in addition it means further estrangement with the family he's supposed to have contact with. It's like collapsing pieces of structure/deck which hold together a house. Eventually push the guy too much and it will all collapse.
In Florida, the father has to be put on the case to evade it. Like me.I think in NY when a mother accept welfare the father,if known, automatically gets put on child support.
That never made sense to me. Who are they helping?
