Get rid of the draft. Free agent rookies. It's the only way to fix that garbage of a league

Yep, plus that myth of players only wanting to go to big markets/contenders got disproven this summer(Josh Jackson not wanting to go to Boston, Crawford going to Minny instead of GS). Imagine two years from now, a bidding war between Charlotte and Orlando for Marvin Bagley. :wow:

Pat Riley's idea is better than that even tho i didnt care for his idea much but i could see it working

Pat Riley: Have a separate playoff-like Tournament for the losing teams where the winner gets the top pick and slot them accordingly from there
Being the 9th seed beats the shyt out of 8th under this scenario

If you get rid of the draft, you get rid of draft picks, which for many teams is their primary source (in some cases only source) of acquiring players.

Sure players prefer not to play in Utah, but if Utah offered Zion both more money and playing time over Brooklyn/Dallas, best believe he would pick Utah.

Prime access to thots/close to nightlife is appealing to young millionaires, but they prefer having ample playing time to boost their value for the second contract(Josh Jackson is a prime example).

Being the 9th seed beats the shyt out of being the 8th seed right now :manny:
What do you get as an 8th seed?
  • The opportunity for some over-time to, most likely, get up to 7 more game -checks for the players.
  • The opportunity to try to pull off a miracle while getting your ass beat down by the #1 seed.

Nah, the 14th vs 15th pick isn't anything. At least fukk around for a couple more games.

1st and foremost draft position should not be determined by your team loses. It should be based on how well the team played over the last 25 or 30 games. So when the season ends whatever teams that missed the playoffs who has the better record over the last 25 games get the most ping pong balls.

Also 8th seeds should not be punished for trying to make the playoffs. They should be included in the lottery.

This system would make almost every game down the stretch count. March/April games would mean something for every team. Hell u would see bad teams making trades at the deadline to compete instead of taking salary dumps:mjgrin:

*based on last two months

1.Por 17-6
2.Mia 14-8
3.Den 13-9
4.Bulls 11-11
5.NO 11-11
6.BK 11-13
7.Cha 10-12
8.Dal 9-14
9.Det 8-14
10.Ny 7-15
11.Orl 7-15
12.Sac 7-15
13.Min 7-15
14.LAL 7-14
15.Phx 6-16
16.Phi 6-17

Teams would not shutdown players. So a lot of the teams listed above record could be even better.

I doubt the NBA would do this, but man even a early March or late April game between two bottom feeders would mean something.

Thoughts or tweaks:feedme:

Tweak- for the no. 1 and no. 3 pick should have the top teams in your structure get the most ping pong balls.

No. 2, 4, 5...10 should give the best odds to the original draft structure of teams with worse records.

With this tweak, you give the worse teams and b the "competitive but not quite good enough" teams great chances at changing their future.

Let's clean this up and send it to the NBA.

Being the 9th seed sucks too. 4 playoff games vs. ONE ping pong ball.

The reason why it's appealing is because you can briefly sell a dream to fans. You can't really sell anyone on the hope of beating the top seed.

Bad teams tend to play young guys. That doesn't stop players from ducking situations they don't want, or at least try to.

I think fans stopped drinking that rum laced koolaid a long time ago, doggy. THis aint the NFL where it's one game and anything can happen. Chances are the #8 seed will get knocked out. This aint the 90s when you had #8 seeds that were deep as fukk like the Nuggets when they beat the Sonics

I know. What I'm saying is barely missing the playoffs and all but guaranteeing the 14th pick isn't something to see solace in either.

It says a lot that just barely making the playoffs is more discouraged in the NBA than any other sport.

Nah...

keep it the way it's been forever. it's not broken, so don't fix it..

that weak ass eastern conference should really be the concern... we about to see teams below 500 with 6th seeds and shyt

East been had two or three sub 500 playoff teams each year since Kobe was in his prime lol

This is how u fix the nba

Get rid of seeding by conferences in the playoffs, seed by team record strictly. No division winners ahead of teams with better records.

Begin relegation*, about 10 teams.

Whoever has the best record in regulation gets the 1st overall pick.
