My nephew is on the path to becoming a hotep...how do I fix it?

Real talk, the only time I've ever really heard Hotep used is online, mainly here & it's usually shameful. What's the real deal???

Most times the nikkas are fake Militants that are full of shyt......so if the word is shameful its cause most of the cats are shameful for not being real about themselves or the "cause" they represent.

It’s the misuse of the word that is most offensive. It means Peace. To use it as an insult to describe people of a different thought says more about you.

The son's mom refused to let us see the kid until a year ago

The son's mom moved halfway across the country

Now the kid's 15 and i'm trying to build a rapport with him out of respect to my brother

He came seeking me and the rest of his dad's family out last year because he reached that age where he wanted to know where his dad came from

I'm trying but, it's hard to build a strong rapport with a kid that the mom kept from you for ten years and you only see him 2-3 times a year

He's looking for someone to replace his father and he found it with Hotep

Well you have a phone and access to the mail. You can call him and mail him books and write accompanying letters to guide him as he reads. He's your blood and its your obligation and your duty, a duty that's much greater than doing it outta respect for your late brother.

But if he's a teenager, he'll probably grow out of it.

I went through a similar phase too, when I used to watch all those Bobby Hemmitt videos and shyt, but eventually, I moved on.
