:mjpls:
Why the white dude gotta have a money sign by his head?
And if it was a black guy with the money sign, it would be not because he has money, but because he's money hungry :smh:

That is how the NA's feel about others using Redskin. But its not being used in the way they are saying it is (imo)
Check this list out brehs. Native Americans allow it and appreciate it

http://www.maxpreps.com/search/school.aspx?school_name=Redskins

70+ high schools with the name Redskins. Some on reservations. Red Mesa in Arizona I know is one of them they are Navajo.
THANK YOU

See, this thread is about understanding. If you don't even understand what the issue is, how can you even speak on it? But of course, with the internet/etc everyone has an opinion. Lets educate ourselves then tackle the issue is all I'm saying. Regardless of what the end result ends up being :handshake:
Well, that's your perspective. If a Native American says it's offensive and he's Native American, why would your opinion, being a non-Native American, have more clout than his?
The answer is your opinion does not hold more clout than his because you are not Native American.

Who you really need to argue this point is is not us, but with a Native American. Wear a mouthguard.
I'm not saying they don't see it as offensive, but why do they see it as offensive is the question.
I'm hearing it was a racial slur, but it wasn't. Never was. If it was, THEY WOULDN'T TURN AROUND AND NAME THERE HIGH SCHOOL ON THERE RESERVATIONS THE REDSKINS :stopitslime:

So why is that being a point of attack? I'd say the 1/87th indian aka the white person who doesn't want to associate themselves with full whiteness. Add those voices to a NA person who was told it was racist and BLAM... racial slur.

You see, I expect plenty of replies from people who don't know the half, who don't care to learn the half.
If you wanna reply to me, you have to address what I spoke on. How is Redskins used on reservations as school names, but its offensive? See, nikkaz is lying. Indians are lying. White people are lying. Lots of bullshyt is flying around. And for what? Whats the reason?
Some of it is bullshyt, some of it is real. This is what it is bruh...

1.) Redskins is not a racial slur
2.) Native Americans do not want other ppl using any likeness of NA's period
3.) NA's were put on reservations and are basically excluded from American culture (when is Native American Month)

Its all about understanding. They have to understand that America doesn't hate Native Americans, NA's hate America for what its done to there people. And now America is has moved on, and honors them by using there likeness for things. Some NA's don't like that. I'm saying they gotta become part of society more if they want to have a say that will resonate with the country. Only time you ever see a NA person is for this issue. I have learned more about NA people reseaching this than I have in all my years in school. They are more than just people who made corn na mean. The Redskins was not a slur, and my links show how it was used thru-out American history in books, movies, etc. So one last time, its not a racial slur. They seem like they want to turn it into a racial slur, even called it the "R" word :laff: If I see an NA, and I didn't like the guy? Redskin does not register as an insult. Its like the movie Young Guns where Lou Diamond Phillips was called "Navejo" like it was a bad thing. Same thing here :manny:

At the beginning of mean streets
Here's the crux of the problem, unless you are Native American (or have recent ancestry), you have no say in whether or not it's offensive. You use a dictionary written by a white man to prove that a word is not derogatory and that's your proof? You're policing people's right to be offended by something that is obviously deeply rooted in racism? Have you not heard of red face, yellow face, and the most famous black face? Gtfo here with that nonsense.

Everywhere...You never there.
All of this began over two decades ago with a Trademark appeal hearing. Seven Native activists argued that the team's name had its origins in the practice of presenting bloody red skins and scalps as proof of Native American kill for bounty payments.

If that is the case, the team shoulda never been named what it is in the first place.
