Ya the Westbrook ranking was a tough swallow. He is top 5 but as I said I value versatility. Westbrook is amazing in certain areas but he is pretty bad in others. Falls asleep on rotations and doesnt fight through pick too much for my liking. Plus he isn't a spot up threat at all. If your run a play through Durant you can leave Russ open and not worry too much, except getting an offensive rebound. Also he is turnover prone and takes some horrible shots.

Lil Isiah really hurts on D because of his size but his defensive analytics are excellent. He is one of the best at staying in front of his man. Everyone on that Celtics team rotates really well and quickly so team defense helps him but he does a great job of contesting. Plus he is a threat in more ways than just off the dribble and with the ball in his hands.
Overall Westbrook is considered this "super hard working competitive" player but that's not really the case defensively. It's close between 6-11 I can rank that differently and I would obv put Westbrook higher off the eye test but this was a combo of that and the eye test.

Jimmy Butler tho, i wouldn't even put him top 25. Extremely overrated defender. I understand Chicago gives up open mid range shots and tries to guide offensive players into the help bigs but his footwork and the angles he takes when chasing off screens is terrible. So i stand by my Jimmy Butler ranking and I love D Wade so I stand by that ranking as well but Westbrook is a tough pill to swallow at 11, i agree. I need to work on my analytics a little more maybe. I gotta say that the diff between harden and Westbrook, it seems like with harden that he Just dorsnt understand defensive fundamentals and spaces out. Where is Westbrook doesn't give full effort but when he does he is actually a good defender so potentially he is a better defender than harden.

Don't completely agree with the list but this is spot on and the reason why steph is far >>>
Easy to be enamored by westbrooks big numbers but he relies on iso ball which stagnates the offense.
Meanwhile steph keeps perimeter defenders (actually all the defenders) on edge at all times opening up lanes for everyone.
For this reason I'd have durant over bron and Klay in the top 15

Westbrook stans:umad:

Wade and mccollum though:dame:

You can make that argument for every player that's ever averaged large assist #s, however you must take this into account - Westbrook is by far the best player (not just guard, but player) in the league at breaking down defenses with or without a pick and collapsing defenses. Yes he's ball dominant, but he leads (1a or 1b depending on how much you value either Westbrook or Durant) one of the best offenses of the modern era - not just one of the best offenses in the league - I'm talking about the last 30+ years. It isn't a case where his "iso ball" is a detriment to his team's offense, like it is for PGs who aren't scoring threats.

The level he's playing at the season is on par with prime Magic, prime Oscar and Curry (currently). This is one of the greatest peaks for a PG we've ever seen.

I don't understand the criticism of him being unable to spot up, when i) it's only one aspect of off-ball play ii) it isn't as if he's average at all the other areas on offense, and spotting up is the deciding factor on his ranking iii) he's one of the best guards at cutting to the rim iv) every single player in the league has at least ONE weakness on offense.

I'd like to know where the OP ranks Magic not only on an all-time list, but in the seasons where he was in his prime.
