It's not really a myth.

Name me a Nas album were the beats were ahead of the curve? Never, his beats have never cracked ground or delivered before market expectation.

What does head of the curve have to do with wack beats? That's a whole different topic. By the way kings disease is ahead of the curve sonically for a veteran that's been in the game almost 30 years :yeshrug:

Boring played out narrative that doesn't hold up if you compare his albums to the other mainstream albums that dropped the same years.

Nastradamus was rushed and half ass. Street Disciple he went a stripped down anti-commercial direction on purpose but over two discs it got boring. Those are the easiest targets but even those were average more than wack. Everything else he's done has good to great production especially if compared to other mainstream albums at the same time.

Critics like Vulture Vlad love to zero in on the weakest tracks on each project instead of the overall product and a lot of sheep just repeat those opinions.

I'm talking about Jay because he lit that fire that started this "Nas picks wack beats" bullshyt. Him trying calling Nas albums other than Illmatic wack was what got his industry acolytes, his stans and internet cacs and trolls calling his beats wack. This conversation can't be had without mentioning Jay cause Jay was the one who basically started this bullshyt myth.
Not true at all. Jay NEVER said anything about his beats specifically. Nobody got that from Jay. We got it from listening to his albums. His beat selection just hasn’t been up to par for a Hall of Fame rapper post It Was Written. It’s his most common criticism.

Please. nikkas AUTOMATICALLY felt Jay had to be implying beats cause Nas NEVER came short lyrics wise. What else could he have been talking about? :stopitslime:

And yea, beats has been his most common criticism and it's because of that online campaign that started after the Takeover that I was talking about.

Uhhhh we was talking about subpar beats from Nas before that popped off. ESPECIALLY when Nastradamus dropped. You’re giving Jay WAY too much credit.

NOBODY was talking about Nas picking subpar beats before Takeover. Dudes were shytting on Nastradamus but there wasn't this false narrative that Nas is a subpar beat picker until Jay said that silly shyt.

Wack beats was just an exaggeration in the title for thread views. We all know the common argument is bad beat selection.

And overblown argument. As a nas fan i always say the only time frame i some what questioned his direction sonically was streets disciple and hip hop is dead time frame. And even those albums I have song that were dope. I just think it's overblown overall. People are followers too, so they repeat what they see.
