The production on this was some of Dre's best work.

Content-wise, they kinda went overboard with some of the shyt they were saying. LOL!! But this is definitely classic material. I thought Ren's career was gonna take off after this. He showed up on this album. You couldn't tell me his solo career wasn't about to pop crazy.

yeah, i agree

it's really interestin' to see in that article how the doc broke down how he wrote lyrics for dr. dre since he (the doc) could only whisper and not really recite the lyrics in the manner that he would have if he hadn't had the accident and how he developed a code where you could decipher where the the lyrics would go:

"i put a 0 over the downbeat and two, three and four corresponded to their beats. dre learned to follow that system. with eazy, I just whispered into his ear and he laid it. i was trying to give those guys the best work i could, considering the state of mind. it was a way to feel normal."

That was one of the first records where I paid attention to the metronome based on what was said in the lyrics.

The whole album was so technically sound and precise. Sonically, way more advanced than the first one.

yeah, the way that album was produced was miles ahead of everythin' else that was out at that time IMO
shyt, in 2016 the production on it still sounds miles ahead of everythin' else that's out now

Cube. they basically break it down in the article, but Cube was the group's moral compass.

Very good read!

The part that made me go

:ohhh:

"So we're all in this neighborhood that's as white as you can get and they're writing, '****** go home' on Eazy's garage in red paint and all of that shyt."

:dwillhuh:

So that what Ice Cube was talking about on that song "True to the game" when he said "nikka go home, spray painted on ya house"

One of those albums that could never get made in 2016. The misogyny in particular is off the charts.

But it's an excellently produced album. One of the few pre-Chronic hip hop albums I really enjoy on the production tip.
