The Blueprint is a good album but there are a lot of skippable tracks after the fact. People still listen to 'Girls Girls Girls' or 'Hola Hovito' ????

Hola Hovito is the only out of place track on that album.

The beat alone makes Girls Girls Girls a classic song.

Original is great and I don't think the beat is horrible, I just think it sounds super stale. And like @Art Barr hinted to, that was the softer side of sean emerging....

This was prelude to becoming a total puasy Sean emo carter album.
This was the other hov, that was created when he was trying to pull an unsuccessful coup with lyor to Warner till defjam stepped un waving a heavy d is mca president desk badge on a stick to jayz.

How anyone even called themselves a real jayz and gives this album props is beyond me.
The prelude to thus album sucking was roc la familia sucked complete ass outside the intro and jay verse on streets is talking.

Most discussions in hip-hop are a lot like this thread and it's so stupid.

"I love this album and think there hasn't been an album better since it came out. Name an album better." :ohlawd:

*Someone names their favorite album that came out after* :ehh:

"I disagree. Since I love this album so much, your opinion doesn't make sense. Look at all the tracks I love from my favorite album. How can the album you named be better than the album I hold in such high regard that I truly believe no other album has been better in over a decade and a half?" :dwillhuh:

Why not just make a quotable/appreciation thread or some shyt?

Also,...the Ts asked what culture based album when blueprint is not indicative of anything culturally hip hop is about except for the surface skills of rapping.
[shyt chunky a Arsenio in a fat suit rapped but we that is not hip hop, either ]
What is cultural about gw, being a p*ssy, losing yourself to corporate greed etc...

Blue print being a good album is fukk'n pr to save face from the inevitable ass whoop'n he was going to take from nas anyway.

fukk the blueprint,....

Two classic rock albums were in store on 9/11 and on one of the sod,..he rapped as a rock singer better than jay on a goat classic rebel yell meets gwar progressive metal as you could get.

Plus tool lateralus, arguably the greatest rock album was out on 9/11,..
I am black saying this,...that two rock albums were better than blueprint.
fukk blue print,...

Girls? fukk yes....Hola Hovito, not so much but he still get off on that.

Plenty of albums better than BP though, shyt I'd rather listen to AG if we're being honest.

BP is a classic album but probably on the weaker end of Jay's albums lyrically. He was nowhere near wack it's just that the beats were so strong and thematic that when you compare his raps on BP to his other shyt they are a little more laxed.

This album is what REALLY got me into East Coast rap. before that all i knew was Cash Money.

I REALLY wanna include the Clipse here but they a group. Solo wise i could argue for:

Be.
The Minstrel Show.
TPAB (IMO, best album of the decade so far).

That's all.

I still listen to the album but both are instant skips....but I like Song Cry so obviously it's just preference. I know it's a song trying too hard and a cheap attempt at 'emotion' but I like it :yeshrug:

I think that Jay was still Jay here and could flow effortlessly to where you just think he's not trying hard. When he tries hard, you get Kingdom Come :yeshrug: so got to take this Jay over that Jay.
