Almost all of it compared to what he did earlier in his career.See I disagree, album is very lyrical. What songs do you feel he was dumbing down lyrics?
Hova Intro
So Ghetto
Dope Man
It's Hot
Watch Me
Big Pimpin
Come And Get Me
NYMP
Hova Song outro

Vocal minority. The booth just had a poll with All Eyez on Me vs Life After Death and all Eyez on Me won pretty convincinglyAEOM.
It sounds like celebration, freedom, balling and kicking it with friends. Like its supposed to and yet so many cats on here hate it. IRL no one ever said a bad thing about it and it bumps from then till now as it covered so many bases without ever feeling like it was spread thin or laced with filler.
I don't disagree with Vol. 2 being the beginning of him being lyrically compromising but it continued on album to album with the flashes of early Jay.It was a step down in song concepts and production. Lyrically, no. Vol. 2 is when Jay started dumbing down.
This was a decent album but Cole was leaving his narrative pocket. The concept kind of faltered because there were records where I couldn't tell if he was his man's or himself.
After Vol 1;I don't disagree with Vol. 2 being the beginning of him being lyrically compromising but it continued on album to album with the flashes of early Jay.
So much for being the most consistent..
Even the Blueprint, one of his best albums, was more about the vibe/mood/tone he set and a lot of that was beat selection.
But, hey Jay "bounces back like round ball."
I love American Gangster and feel like it's sort of a return to form.
But he had found a temporary muse in the film.
Respectfully disagree.After Vol 1;
Vol 3
Blueprint 2
Black Album
Are Jay's lyrical showings. I need to revisit Dynasty to assess. American Gangster to me was a step behind these but he was creatively inspired enough to deliver a strong overall album.
Oh I know he doesn't love it, but that doesn't effect how I feel. Redman hates It's Dark and that's his best album to me, by quite a bit.Almost all of it compared to what he did earlier in his career.
If it helps to clarify furthur it's not that songs are particulary "bad,", it's just all very underwhelming.
It's mid Jay and what's what's more he admits he dumbed it down so it was intentional to boot.
Jesus. He even thinks so.
Which albums before the Black Album do you think he was referring to?
Fair enough.Oh I know he doesn't love it, but that doesn't effect how I feel. Redman hates It's Dark and that's his best album to me, by quite a bit.
as somebody who was 8 years old when that album dropped and I heard that shyt everywhere I don’t think universally it’s a hater on album at all, it’s also one of the most sampled albums amongst newer rappers.AEOM.

With what exactly?Respectfully disagree.
That Vol 3 is in anyway a lyrical showing. With what exactly?
