Mr. Morale.

The only good arguments I've seen against it were from @Piff Perkins, but everyone treats this album like it's Revival when it's nowhere near that. If this album came out back in 2018-2019, I would probably appreciate it less and wonder what the hell is going on. But I think as time goes by, this album will get more appreciation and turn into a cult classic.

Also, if you shaved off some of the second half, Street's Disciple would be an all-time classic. Word to @Left.A1.
Nah that album lacks standout Kendrick tracks. Don’t think there’s a track on that album that would crack his top 25. After a 5 year hiatus that’s inexcusable imo. It’s no where near trash but a3.5/5 is a fair rating. The album was good. Bad when you compare it to the bar he set.

Vol. 2

I'm legit :dwillhuh: when I hear ppl talk bad about it

Reservoir Dogs
Coming Of Age 2
Ride or Die
MCH
Money Ain't......
Like That
HKL

Come on, man

cats say it's too "commercial" or it "aged horribly"

both of which arent really true, IMO. It's just the shyt was so huge when it dropped that it practically defined that lil slice of time. When Puffy's ultragloss shiny rap and DMX's gritty dark shyt coexisted.

You look at the tracklist, everything on it either was a huge single or felt like a huge single.

That's the perfect way to describe it

yeah, even something like MCH might seem like some glossy shyt by today's standards

but it got DMX on it and the first thing you hear is Hov getting into grimy mode. "Turn the lights all the way down".

More money, more cash, more killing. I know they gonna criticize the hook on this song. Like I give a fukk. I'm just a crook on a song.

That album is so trash to me lol. Just overall. Like 4 joints on there tho is fire fire

Shyt, I accept3d the album for what it was...

It ain't Nas' fault that nikkas got a hold of the internet and leaked Murda Muzik and Nastradamus early.

Besides, Nastradamus was as cohesive I Am.

Shoot Em Up, New World, Nastradamus, Life We Chose and Come Get Me were my favorite tracks.

Quiet Nikkas had grew on me after 10 listens.

Wiz arguably had the best verse and went off

If you want to say it's a step down from his previous albums, then that's a conversation worth having. To me, the album has multiple standout tracks ("Father Time" and "Savior" to name a few). But people go too far and say it's trash. That just lets me know they wanted a different kind of Kendrick and were upset that they didn't get it.

Still til this day I don't know why people act like Volume 3 is a misstep in Jay's discography. I love that album. Solid 4 Mics Imo
Vol 3 (and Dynasty) has some of Jay’s best rapping ever. But I don’t think Vol 3 is really that great of an album overall, but I think it’s the perception of comparing it to the rest of Jay’s catalog around that time.

Nastradamus was all over the place sonically, if you view it as a mixtape because of the bootlegging, that shyt has hood classics on it

Shoot ‘Em Up
God Love Us
Last Words
Life We Chose
Project Windows
Come & Get Me

All them shyts slap :manny: a couple more songs too that aren’t bad… then you got some doo doo on here

As an album tho, yeah it doesn’t come together like it should

Vol 3 not being Hard Knock Life

Revisiting Ma$e's Double album right now

in real time, i understood since he just abruptly retired and the album didn't really get promoted outside of the single Get Ready

but Ma$e had some gems on this album:

"Stay Out My Way" over Madonna's "Justify My Love" beat

"Same N*ggas"

"Blood is Thicker"

"You Ain't Smart"

"From Scratch"

"Get Ready"

"F*ck Me, F*ck You"

"Another Story"

"Make Me Cry"

"No Matter What"

Now I'm not saying the album didn't have some duds, like "Gettin' It" which is one of Ma$e's wackest songs. as well as "If You Want to Party" and "Do It Again" and "All I Ever Wanted":russ:

but there's at least 10 solid great to good songs out of an album that's got 14 songs on there, an intro and 3 interludes on it.
