Pay your bills on time and the government won’t garnish your checks. I am sure these teenagers have parents and teachers and family to help them prior to taking on student loans.

I know people who got nice cars and houses and all kinds of shyt but they’re drowning in student debt. Nah man.

Make better choices brehs.

All of us don’t have kids, but our taxes go towards public schools.

:unimpressed:

All of us don't drive but we pay for roads. Its foolishness.

She is right. Only 30% of Americans go to college. Most have paid off their loans already.

it is bad politics for people who could never afford to go to school see people get it for free

:mjlol:

That's not the argument. The crux is that people were duped into predatory loans by a litany of companies including the federal government into thinking they COULD afford to go to college. But when the wages didn't rise to meet the cost of education you have the current problem we have. Its an issue that multiple institutions played a role in but only the FED could fix.

If you don't address it, you'll have a third of the country that can't replace the rate of homeownership that currently exists. Why? Because debt to income is one of the largest factors in getting a mortgage.

That causes massive overstock, the housing market bottoms out and we are in a worse place than we were even in 08. This is then compounded by the working poor and underclass that already couldn't afford homeownership and boom. More than half the country can't afford to buy a home.

And if that doesn't seem like a big deal, it is. Homes are literally 80+ percent of the average american family's wealth. This is just ONE problem that could come from not creating a loan forgiveness program. There's incomplete degrees, credit issues, wealth stratification, etc.

America just passed a multi BILLION dollar infrastructure deal....that's about to be a fukking waste if people can't afford to live in the place where that investment is going towards.

This is a bad look fam. Not everyone qualified for mortgage forebearance. Each state had their own stipulations. Those stimulus checks didn’t cover much either. It’s not black and white like that. There’s hella grey. I think you know that.

They were not able to evict anybody so it don't matter if folks pay their rent or not. Did you not see the clip of all those women in the airport going to DR for butt lifts. Where do you think that money coming from? And low income folks already had government assistance, food stamps, subsidized housing and daycare etc. before the pandemic started. Folks been blowing their stimulus checks, taking vacations and getting into more debt. Upper middle class are the group who got screwed the most the past year. Folks who are not rich but make too much to get any govt assistance, but pay the most in taxes and were phased out from getting stimulus money.

If that is her argument then we need to change how our taxes are spent. Everytime the conversation is about doing something beneficial for Americans, there's always an excuse why it can't happen but we are quick to give money to other countries. Nobody asks me if I want to send money to Israel so miss me with the dumb ass argument:camby:. And I say that as someone who worked two jobs to pay off my loans.
exactly. People need to look at how much the US gives in foreign aid annually. But got the nerve to be all scrooge about student loans.

we all went to public school for the most part so pay it forward. IF you went to a private school then I'd get the argument.

I`m not for forgiveness because I've seen how folks abuse student loans and brag about all their degrees they dont use, getting them off the hook, then folks who have been paying better get some kinda refund or kick back because the money they been paying could have went to something else

Getting a $20k check in the form of loan debt relief for me and my wife was 1A for why I voted Biden. 1B was the ACA expansion which he did but more important was the debt relief. He had on his campaign website wiping hbcu debt outright (which I knew wouldn’t happen) but I fell for that shyt lock stock and barrel thinking they would send it through at least on the house side :beli:
