I will say that my issue with Bernie is his stubbornness to remain on his economic populist message at the expense at all other things. It's both good and bad. Good in that staying on message is an issue recent democrats have issues with and instead just react to what the political winds are . However there is a certain callousness he has shown when people desire his input on issues outside of that.
But OP and that tweet is obviously stretching what was being said to push a narrative. The obvious argument is that yes we should care about lack of voting rights of those in South Africa, another country, but we also should be looking at the poor in our own country and their lack of participation in the voting process. Highlighting that people who believe in American exceptionalism neglect the issues they have at home. He attempts to tie it back to various groups of poor people from those in trailer parks (implies white trash) to housing projects (usually associated poor blacks) was I think his attempt to make an appeal to a coalition of poor. Not just white or black .
It's also very telling there was a jump in the second video like it was cut and also that they are cut removing surrounding context. Obviously a political hit job.
