Salaam got Nas tagged for bad beats..wasn't justified. But just saying

This is facts. During the height of Dip Set and Kanye's heavily produced chipmunk soul, Lil Jon and Ludacris dominating down south and the synth heavy Aftermath G-Unit sound that had taken over the game, Nas was doing shyt like this with Salaam. It was completely out of step with what was hot at the time, but apparently everyone want this from him now. But, a lot of the :flabbynsick: crowd hated on Salaam too just because he wasn't Premier or Pete Rock

I don't think the "songs vs albums" is a fair knock on Salaam. HitBoy is working with a Nas who has 0 studio influence at this point, Salaam worked with a Nas who got heavily curated by Sony and then Def Jam. Those studios have clear hands in the Salaam influenced projects, I think Gods Son is probably the purest album to come out of that era with HHID and Untitled, and SD to a lesser degree, being influenced to butchered by the studios.

The fact that Nas couldn't curate his own albums the way he's doing it is now directly led to him wanting to make HHID and Untitled in their original forms.

Salaam > Hit and I fukking love the KD duology.
I said this two years ago and Hit definitely closed the gap, but I'll only know in like 10 years if Hit matches Salaam/Nas.

Most of their music aged really well, which is ironic because folks like myself and @Ziggiy and Jayshiggs etc were having these exact fights having to defend Nas working with Salaam rather than (insert Illmatic producer or whoever was hot at the time).

I remember putting on posters YEARS ago who claimed that they hated Salaam Remi of the songs he and Nas did and how many were their actual favorite Nas songs lol.

I still remember posters going crazy over Where Ya’ll At back in 06 on AllhipHop’s forums and having NO IDEA Salaam produced it.

So many posters say Salaam ruined Streets Disciple and then name the songs they DID like from the album and their ALL Salaam Remi produced except Just A Moment lmao.

One thing you can give Jay is that his fans are all on one accord on Which albums they love and which they don’t. Which producers they fukk with and don’t. All of that. Nas fans be ALLLLLLLLLL over the place lmao. But in a way thats a testament to him as an artist and how much he experiments and how diverse his sound actually IS from era to era

As I said before in this thread, I think Hit Boy and Nas have done amazing work these last few years. Magic 2 is probably my least favorite from them, but I'm still hopeful that they can continue to make great projects together. But with that said, Made You Look alone>>>>>>>>then all of the King Diseases and Magics put together, respectfully.

Salaam Remi gave Nas some of my favorite songs from him. Nazareth Savage, Made ya look, I can, Get down, etc.. And a lot of people don't know that he's been around longer than Nas. Kutis Blow's comeback record(back by popular demand), Biz, and others like Zhiggie. In the summer of 92 whne "jump around" and "troy" was rocking the radio, a dope azz song that got severely overlooked by Zigghe called "toss it up" was blazing that summer too. Yo mtv raps always played this. I still have this album

Zhigge was a big deal for us Uptown.

We used to see them around the way all the time, when the singles dropped. When Kazo from the group started opening up his barbershops all over Harlem, we used to be in there listening to beats and vibing out to classic sh*t all day. Salaam definitely blessed them with a classic LP.

Lol made u look is more relavant than any song Nas and hit boy did

"Made You Look" is more relevant than a lot of Nas songs past and present. It's not onlybone of his best songs, but it's like his second biggest single as a solo artist with "I Can" being his highest charting single and that is also produced by Salaam Remi. Salaam gave Nas a certified street banger that got mainstream love and it was completely left of what was hot at the time. Nas hd classic iconic songs withbother producers at the time, but none if them were able to do what Nas and Salaam did with "Made You Look".
