This song is awful. Wow. The beat kinda sounds like that plodding, soulless shyt Em used to make. Irony?

Ya, the beat on the OG version was cheeks.

The remix they put on The ****** Tape mixtape was way better:

Nas was dissing him you dummy
:mindblown:At your c00n ass thinking nas heard "i'm not with that ****** shyt" and "black girls are bytches" and giving it the cosign
:beli:

Nas Gives Gwyneth Paltrow A Pass On the N-Word, Because She's A Real N*gga

:youngsabo:

And even then, I'm not saying he co-signed the songs. I'm saying that he's making commentary in which it's necessary to blur the color lines to point out the master/slave dynamic rather than a straight up black vs. white issue. Eminem is a perfect reference to use for several reasons besides some simple minded shyt like throwing shade. Him going directly into the relationship and tension between US blacks and Africans directly afterward is also important to note.

That master/slave dynamic in america is really what separates "crackas" and "nikkas", we are all slaves to this system, poor whites are just as expendable as any black man to the "one percent" running this country, hence the line at the end of Louis Farrakhan.

Giving you this crack like Pookie
To question the system, be the resistance
No matter what color you are everybody nikkas
Or you can stand by or watch or you can march on with us

These were the last words on an album with a deliberate point to make. On american soil if you ain't a master, you're a nikka...you're a slave, uncle sam has a receipt for you in the form of a social security number.

He mentioned that he's a threat because people listen to him. He's using his platform to let the rest of the slaves know what the fukk the deal is. That we are all being used, and in a way are already unified in our struggle to be free in this country.

Like uhh, William Cooper
Who told you the Pale Horse is the future

Would you testify on some realness like that?
I think you scared (heh)
I don't think you prepared
Yeah
*sings (Testifyyyyy for me)
You know what I'm asking you?
*sings (Testifyyyyy for me)
Do you know what I'm asking you?

This is why unity is important...you start getting your William Cooper on even the people that believe in what you say will allow you to be thrown under the bus and put on the fringe out of fear. Fear that the man standing next to them won't get it, and that he will be standing on that same island with no support.

Hip hop has made it so that people don't feel so separate from one another and will continue to do so. It's played a huge part in changing the social climate as far as race is concerned. There is no obama (however you feel about him) without hip hop. By making kikes, spics and chinks and crackers "******s too" you take a step toward neutralizing racism and having the kind of unity that would allow you to question the system without having to wonder if people will ostracize you for it.

He gave Eminem a pass for saying ****** and then in the very next line Nas spreads the misconception that Africans don't like Black Americans. So basically Nas said "Chill don't be mad at Eminem fot being racist...shyt, Africans don't like us neither".

There is a lot of tension/miscommunication between american blacks and Africans though.

On "our" side you have the fact that some of us were sold to white folks by our own people. On their side of things they see american blacks as lazy, stupid and ungrateful without fully understanding the psychological effects of institutionalized racism. The fact that while we can always reach back and celebrate african culture and customs, as Americans OUR identity is more tied to being survivors than "kings and queens" and rich history.

How do you leave behind a victims identity/consciousness without having something to replace it with?

It gets deeper than that but that could spiral off into a whole nother thread.

This is always ignored

“I would slap the s*** out of somebody for Gwyneth Paltrow,” Nas told CBS Local exclusively. “She’s the homie, she’s cool. Gwyneth gets a pass. Real people get a pass. We know what this s*** is. We don’t interrupt Italians when they say ‘Wop’ to each other. They gonna punch you in the mouth if you interrupt that. Don’t interrupt us. We pick and choose.

“Some might not feel the same way,” he said. “Some of us will get angrier about it than others; but some people get a pass. The people that I know who are cool and real n****s, Gwyneth Paltrow is a real n****, that’s my homie. That’s how I’m on it. Some people get a pass.”

Don't listen to that idiot Nas.

So Africans don't like African Americans...but White people do?

You said two things that both point to the same problem.

1. You said that African Americans were sold into slavery by Africans.
2. You say that African Americans are lazy, stupid, and ungrateful.

1. you said that African Americans were sold into slavery by Africans.
This is a half truth told by whites to create and maintain a divide between Blacks and Africans. The truth is that the blacks that were sold were, in most cases, Africans that were caught by an opposing tribe. (Ex: Tribe A is beefing with Tribe B and caught some POW. Those that were caught were sold)

What were they sold to? They were not sold to the type of slavery that occurred in America, they were intended to be sold as indentured servants. The slavery that happened in America (Chattel slavery) is rooted in anger and hatred white people had for black people. Every country in the world had some for of slavery (namely indentured servitude) but NO WHERE in the world was there Chattel slavery, where the stripped Africans of their name, culture, physically tormented them, ect.

Secondly, the other blacks that were enslaved were KIDNAPPED. They don't tell that part of the story. Most of the slaves that were brought to America were illegally kidnapped.

2. You say that African Americans are lazy, stupid, and ungrateful.
That is not true. The IMAGE of African Americans is that they are lazy, stupid, ect. How can African American's be lazy and slaves. That's an oxy moron. If anything the white people who forced Africans (slaves) to do their labor were the lazy ones.

Understand that when Africans are allowed to enter the United States, they are "Warned" by immigration to stay away from African Americans. This is done intentionally. This isn't because African Americans are a threat it is because if Africans united with African Americans we would have a strong hold economically.

Also keep in mind the negative images that come out about both sides also keeps African Americans and Africans apart. When African Americans are talked about in the media, they ONLY talk about the negative. The same way we only see images of mud huts and safaris when they talk about Africa, is the same way we only see thugged out, criminals when they talk about African Americans. Those images make it easy for people to believe the lies that are told about the people.

If Nas wasn't such a smart dumb nikka he would be able to explain that. Sometimes I question what the man actually reads since he can't use logic and reasoning and put 2 and 2 together.

Instead he gives Eminem props after disrespecting his whole existence.

Don't listen to that idiot Nas.

I'm not getting my POV from nas though...i'm going off of my personal experience and conversations that I've had. One of the illest convos of my life was with two Kenyan exchange students and it's really something i won't ever forget. I talk about it all the time even years after the fact.

So Africans don't like African Americans...but White people do?

He said some Africans. And you go on later here to touch on the image/perception of the american black...i'm not saying it's true, i'm just saying that YOUR perception is reality. I understand why some Africans may perceive american blacks in that way if all they really have is the media to go off of. The problem is, even the truthful shyt that make american blacks look a certain way are really symptoms, not the cause. You need to have proper perspective on the psychological aspect of being black in america before you can really make a good judgment.

Right, this is why i brought up the "they sold us into slavery" talking point because again, it's a perception that really lacks perspective on what slavery was. Doesn't stop the hurt or the mixed signals.

Being that there isn't much open dialogue between Africans and american blacks you end up with both sides running with a particular image. You got nikkas in the states africa is a bunch of tribal nikkas in cloth tutu's and lions walking around willy nilly...it's a lot of miscommunication, doesn't mean he pulled it out of thin air.

I agree he could have fleshed it out a bit more or even made it a whole song within the album.
