To be honest, I can...the same way I can see someone liking Hell On Earth over the The Infamous. Hell On Earth may not be as consistent but it still very, very good.
All four are classics to me. Don't get me wrong. But Illmatic is just bonafide hip hop classic after bonafide hip hop classic. IWW has amazing songs but they aren't on the same level.

Y'all jumping to conclusions. Jay z named his own albums classic. All those albums are certified classics. The funny thing is, Nas is probably to humble and smart to call own his albums classics, he'd let someone else do it like it supposed to be done.

Jay is insecure.

Skipping one/two tracks doesn't negate an album from classic status.

Even my top 10 albums ever have skippable tracks.

Fluidity, although helps.. isn't make/break when it comes to classic status.

I can agree to an extent, but to me I dunno...there are different levels of classics. The God tier albums at the very least just hits you with classic song after classic song. Like to the point that it takes you days to get through the album because everytime you move on you have the next song on repeat.

Illmatic, The Infamous, OBC4L for example, was like that to me on first listen. Doggystyle too

Then there's classic albums where the standout tracks are amazing, and the rest are solid. IWW, Hell On Earth, 7 Day Theory to me is like that.

Then there are classic albums that my have a couple whack joints, but the best songs on there are classic.

All four are classics to me. Don't get me wrong. But Illmatic is just bonafide hip hop classic after bonafide hip hop classic. IWW has amazing songs but they aren't on the same level.

I can agree to this...there are different levels to classics

fukk all that revisionism shyt, Nastradamus was, is, and will always be mostly wack. :ld:
I didn't start listening to rap until 2001 or so, so I didn't hear the album when it came out, so I personally haven't gone back and revised my opinion on it or anything. Since I first heard it I thought and still think it's an alright album. It's certainly not great, but I certainly don't think it's horrible either like some claim.

I fux with a bunch of tracks on that album that I enjoy listening through:
Some of Us Have Angels
Project Windows
Come Get Me
Shoot Em Up
Last Words
Quiet nikkas
Nastradamus - I know others don't feel this, but I like this track for some reason

And I can sit through the other tracks for the most part, they're not unlistenable to me - Life We Chose, Nastradamus, and Family are decent. God Love Us is aight but the verses feel really short and lacking. I can't sit through Big Girl and You Owe Me though - those are trash. New World isn't really good either. So 6 good tracks imo. 3-4 average ones. 2-3 crap ones.

I also think Nas delivered on a good bit of that album, but the production made it sound worse than it should have been. Although I'm not one to nitpick at production for the most part so it doesn't bother me too much. Although Shoot Em Up beat sounds like a fukking Christmas jingle while Nas is talking about shooting people up :snoop:

This song is underrated
