Idk. Premo is pretty notorious for being stingy with the beats. Rappers have said when they ask him for beats he'll send them 1 or 2 and that's it. He doesn't really allow artists to rummage through his entire catalog like that. He chooses what he likes for them and gives them a very limited selection. But to be honest I don't think his entire stash would sound much better than what we heard here. Dude is just too stuck in the past. I think this is why it's important to always keep young ears around you. Premo getting his sounds from 50 year old cac musicians. They got zero funk to em.

Preem likes to sit and actually work with the artists.

Like most of the OG's, he's not into sending beats out. He wants you in the studio next to him, and there when he's making something for you. That's why I love this album so much. It wasn't his vision for what it should be, it was Nas's. This whole project was Nas's picture that he wanted to paint on his career and golden era appreciation.

So if he goes to Premier and says he wants to do this "love letter to Hip Hop", I like how Premier made sure to only work on sh*t when he was sitting there with Nas and didn't get into just making random sh*t and sending it out. This is a true collaboration between two GOAT's.

Am I the only one who actually likes all these beats? I'm on my first listen and I already know this is going to be the first album of this recent run Nas is on where I enjoy and want to listen to the songs over and over. To me, these beats aren't too far off in quality from the level of the Group Home album. Like, are people being serious when they say they don't like this?

I'll keep saying it

This is the last time we ever saw prime Primo

This song would be the worst song on Nastradamus. And I'm being dead serious

Some Group Home songs ...Aight
Jeru da Damaja ....Aight

But this?????? 🤔😒

Wtf was Rass even rapping about?

This is just a good reminder how Xzibit is just levels above

Ft. Stewart, Ga
instead of an all-primo album, he should have had primo, large pro, LES, pete rock, and q tip each give him a couple beats

imagine how cool that would have been. i'm not trying to be negative about this album, because it's not BAD, but it's just not great :dead:

So basically Illmatic part 2

You would’ve bytched about that too

:mjcry:Cmon bruh…why you gotta do me like that? I’ll have to give it one more spin and maybe revisit Nastradamus a touch to make a full assessment but I CAN say with certainty that this song is 1000% better than anything on Light-Years:

This is not fair. Project windows is peak Nas

You Owe Me is better than anything on Light Speed

This sums it up.

The highs are INCREDIBLE, the rest is good. I knew I wasn't getting a bunch of Nas Is Likes and Come Get Mes, but that's the type of Premo joints I wanted. Feels like Kings Disease or Magic with better beats and scratching.

NYSOM3 (the verse parts), Nasty Esco Nasir:wow: , My Story Your Story (WOW that was good, I want a Nas/AZ album again), Madman, Junkie and 3rd Childhood were fire to me.

I will say, CONTENT wise, this is an easy 10/10. Nas didn't waste a single bar. A love letter to Hip-Hop.

Off one listen, I'd give it 4 mics.

I got four KD/Magic albums over this but it's still good
