The bolded all muthufukkin day. Fukk are y'all still on that white supremacist petri dish for in the first goddamn place? :mjpls:

I think we know why.

Like I've been saying, those people ain't from the community. They still go to Twitter for their opinions on Hip Hop.

They're outsiders. Nas don’t make music for those bums.

one producer carrying a project by themselves is huge work, even in their primes :yeshrug:

this is where I disagree with some others. today most beats are pre-made and not made to order so most of the time mcees are just picking beats. this is a solid album but not spectacular. I would listen to this more than the Hit-Boy albums because of the feel of it but Hit Boy albums have certain aesthetic as well that have their own appeal

@Crumple

Favorites off the top of my head (mostly in the order that I purchased them).

Enter the Wu Tang 36 Chambers, Wu Tang Clan
Blow Out Comb, Digable Planets
The Chronic, Dr. Dre
Nas, Illmatic
The Infamous, Mobb Deep
Doggy Style, Snoop
OB4CL, Raekwon
Ready to Die, Biggie
SPICE-1, SPICE-1

Temples of Boom, Cypress Hill
Bizarre Ride, The Pharcyde
All Eyez On Me, 2Pac
93 Til Infinity, Souls of Mischeif

Etc., etc…

Does my taste in music give me your approval to have an opinion?

:mjlol:

Hold on, let me check....

....yea, you alright lol

Sometimes ppl give opinions but can't name things they do like.

Low End theory is godly. It does NOT sound like it's from 91 at all. But 94-95. Years ahead of it's time.

I'm giving the album 4 out of 5 stars. Nas absolutely kills it, Premmo's production is mostly solid, though not as good as his prime. I love how the album is basically an ode to different elements of Hip-Hop, real fan service stuff here. It isn't an instant classic like Magic or KDIII, but it's still very good.

Nasir (2018) was effectively a Kanye West solo album with Nas replace Kanye as the main performer.

Light-Years (2025) is pretty similar; effectively a Gang Starr album with Nas replacing Guru. By nature of Nas and Preemo having great chemistry it's a much better record than Nasir, but there are limits to how much you can take Gang Starr's formula without Guru.
Why would it be a gang starr album?

NY State of Mind Pt. 3 hits with such a dark, gritty edge -- ❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️. I had my doubts though spotting it on the tracklist and hearing that Billy Joel sample initially, but they absolutely did their thing . Feels like a throwback to early Jeru the Damaja vibes or tracks from Hell Hath No Fury. It's got that same brooding orchestral atmosphere Salaam Remi infused into A Queens Story.

The song is growing on me but i wish the last 20 seconds was the beat for the whole song. Still dope tho i like the grimyness of it

Production is clearly getting discussed lol

How do we feel about Nas lyrical performance on here sitting in his catalog?? Almost every joint is conceptual or has a clear theme to it, not just 1-2 songs

My favorite after Illmatic and IWW was Life Is Good. He killed that album imo
Amazing. Up near the top to me
