No no no. U not gonna use this on me cause I'm one of the first people to say the same shyt. A Kendrick stan tried to say Nas ain't top 5 lyricist no more when Kendrick ain't got LYRICS from his last 2 albums better than KD3, Magic or Light Years. Lyrically overall. Light Years is better than GNX. Kendrick his PERFORMING on GNX. Lyrically tho? Light in the ass.
Lyrics are subjective tho - If you don’t think Kendrick isn’t a lyricist then idk what we doing …

Pause Tapes is my favorite song , Highlight for me the standout LYRICS in your opinion

I think Kendrick is a lyricist. Stop moving goal posts. I’m speaking on specifically these last albums. Nothing more nothing less. I’m talking about recent Kendrick lyrically vs recent Nas lyrically. If a nikka gonna be a Kendrick stan and tell me Nas ain’t top 5 lyricist no more I wanna see what Kendrick is lyrically doing better right now.

Ok but you have to post what you’re talking about so we can have a proper conversation

So what are the lyrics on Pause Tapes you consider to be better than anything on GNX as you stated …

The entire way he put the verse together and if u ever had to live that life u would understand how fukkin ILL it was that he captured that with such accuracy. Kendrick does have a Nasty Esco Nasir on GNX. GNX is very basic but with dope ass performance and bangin beats. Kendrick ain’t really go crazy lyrically on that. Not saying he CANT. I’m saying he DIDNT.

For me Ive always been a Nas fan (never been one that was a Jay-Z die hard from my younger days to EVEN now). This in my opinion is an album that took it back to the Elements which we see with the acknowledgements of graffiti writers. it feels like a HOMAGE album more than a Nas album if that make sense.

The bars are there I mean hes Nas and i say that because elsewhere online i keep seeing the discussion of Nas constantly using the same pocket/rhyme patterns ----- I dont get this gripe at all. With Premo it certain beats i actually like and im probably in the minority when i say i have no issue with the NYSOM beat. i love that dark , gloomy shyt. However i understand some producers on here issue with the beats on certain songs. As i do the one i see on Twitter --the producer/beatmaking community that even taking it on themselves to do reworks an put a spin on it. HELL WE ALL KNEW THAT WAS COMING REGARDLESS. To me alot of them in regards to the production by Premo . it sounds nice but others are cool it feels as if something is missing whether it be a vocal sample, an 808, a snare at the right place even a delay or certain synth . I wouldnt say Premo COMPLETELY Lost what i'll say as a fan is some of it makes you want more from him. And i say that as a fan not to nitpick or nothing.

Overall it NOT bad at all it actually a cool album.

OH im hoping 3rd Childhood can get a video.

Lyrically? What about them are lyrically better? Matter fact. Have u ever had to do a Pause Tape? Do u understand what it is and how to do it? What it was like? Nasty Esco Nasir. Where do Kendrick got that in his album? Listen I’m not talking about SONGS. I’m talking about lyrics that’s it. Not performance.

This shyt gone off the rails :mjlol: fukk we talking about Kendrick for?

I respect the opinion of anyone that listened in good faith which is most of the posters here. We all know the ones that only listened once strictly to hate. The more I listen it ain't fair to blame your dislike of the album on Premier being washed. He actually turned back the clock and delivered a lot of beats that sound like his stuff from the early 90s. It's a real throwback. There's just a section of the audience that wanted the busier, more bombastic style he used on a lot of the tracks he gave to Nas, BIG, Jay and others in that era. Instead they went with more sparse beats centered on drums and basslines that's reminiscent of Gang Starr album cuts. It ain't about Premier letting Nas down it's about you ain't like the creative direction they took. Which is cool. But no doubt this is the album Nas wanted to make.

Ok but putting a verse together is not lyrics - and I understand you thought the concept was ill , I think it was ill too but that is subject matter

When you said lyrics I thought you were saying actually words written

It sounds like you just like how Nas raps over how Kendrick does … which is fine

I don’t see how you can listen to reincarnated, heart pt 6, or Gloria and say they are absent of the same elements you like on pause tapes

Esco vs Nasir … like Kendrick literally coming from multiple perspectives on reincarnated … idk breh :lupe:

To each their own I guess.
