NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
AND ANOTHA THING

Don't tell me ya'll don't care about validation - y'all was happy Nas did the sales he did off that first KD - I remember Ziggsby spamming the thread with cac reviews from major publications

and Ya'll all was high fiving, chuckling, and celebrating when he won that grammy

:hubie:
Of course nikkas gonna be happy if he gets an achievement for his work but nikkas ain’t letting it define whether the like the music or not either. The first Magic was prolly the best of the whole Hit Boy run and had one of the lowest sales.

I mean he obviously wants people who are his die hards to know the fukkin album exists man. And the Joe Budden Podcast shyt is coming off like more of a favor than anything else based on who worked on the album. Was he supposed to be the first release as the head of the label? I’m confused. To ask why he promoted the other releases was a dumb ass question. There’s core things Nas could’ve done to promote this album easily that he chose not to do. Son has no visuals for the album like the other Legend Has It.. artists as well. And this shyt don’t got nothing to do with me being no fukkin Stan. fukk outta here wit that I been critical of this album the entire time. I just don’t ask dumb ass questions and use my brain.
Why spend time and money for the same result

The Nasty Boys are broke boys still begging for links in 2025

Yeah

But that was a out of nowhere release at the end of the year

It just seems to me the narrative gets switched depending on how Nas album's is received

Exactly! In elementary when we was playing Doggystyle and Predator or in Jr high when we bumped Ready to Die or Space Age Pimpin.......we never was like what Biggie did the first week? Never lol.

Now the rappers cared (Pac: My shyt a drop and sell five million on Homies Thugs, Big: how to sell records like snoop oops) but we didnt. It became a big talking point thanks to Curtis Jackson.

I see great music as art. When i visit museums and look at paintings ive NEVER wondered how much this piece cost (i only care about that at a purchase gallery). Im enjoying the art.
This isn’t great music tho

I don't want to veer too far off the thread here, but to be clear, I think a new Jay-Z album would have a very strong first week. But compared to his wife and his old albums, it wouldn't be close to that, and that IMO would be the issue.

But I am only speculating.
even Beyonce only sells but so much now. Her power is in her tours. Her albums don't have the legs they used to. As long as she sells out stadiums and win Grammys, everything else now is gravy

The only Legend Has It album that even charted was Mobb Deep's.
The greater point I was trying to make is who really cares. I can look at my top 5 favorite albums of any genre and cant tell you how much they sold nor would I care. You either like something or you dont and move on (and its fine to not like something)

Oh I don't give a damn whether these artists chart or not (if they do, great).

I just think rap fans more than any genre are conditioned to treat sales the way we treat TV shows with ratings. The lower the ratings are, the more worried we are a show gets cancelled and I feel like we're just paranoid that shyt won't get done if it doesn't sell when the industry has different bench marks for what they deem successful or profitable.

Boldy put out 11 projects this year. None of them shyts charted. I don't care and I don't think Boldy does either. Hell, all that time churning out projects that didn't chart got him a deal at Roc Nation.

I'm not expecting Nas to sell like Taylor Swift , but you cannot tell me more people want to hear Nas and Hitboy over Nas and Preem - I don't care how old the "sound" is.

AND

Ya'll acting like HitBoy gave nothing but 808 beats... he boomed and bapped throughout each one of those damn albums

AND

Preem does NOT have a small ass fanbase

First two HB albums got younger guests, singers on hooks and way more modern and commercial sound. Of course more people gonna listen to that. You think Nas and his team ain't connect the dots there? This exactly why everyone keep telling you numbers wasn't the concern for this project.

They could have delivered Moment Of Truth instrumentals with 98 Nas bars like the fantasy version yall had in your head. Without big guests and pop hooks it was always gonna do numbers like Magic or KD3. You acting like everyone else is stupid but not living in reality.
