Nas was not the problem on here. Primo doesnt have an entire album in him anymore, and that's fine. He gave us multiple classics for decades. But the fantasy of this album is largely dead. We probably would've gotten a classic around the Scratch magazine era but now...we get a dope enough album. Took 7 tracks to hit it's stride. As much as people wanted this album...an album with, say, Alchemist would be a better idea at this point. Primo will give you a truly dope beat or 3 like he did on De La but a whole album? Them days are over.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Finished the first listen. This album is the most beautiful love letter to hip hop that I've heard. Great album Nas solidified his place as the illest mc ever.

Premo did the job but yeah I expected more from him. Like @TheDarceKnight said I really think his production lacks something. The equipement and engineering is not the same. And Primo ain't getting the dope loops he used to dig. Maybe the sampling witch hunter killed his style. It's missing the banging knocks and grimy feeling. I also hope that his manager ain't something to do with that. He forced Parks as an engineer instead of Eddie Sancho lately and the bass guitarist guy on primo team.

I need to listen more to it but I would say it's not better than magic 1 and Kd3 but right under with magic 3 and kd2
I think ur ranking is where I have it right now.
