ok i let this run a few spins thoroughly since the release and i gotta say, this is a solid 4 mics! "It's time" is an INSTANT classic and preemo absolutely killed that sample, i can see that joint being played in movies in the future. What i've always said is if you kept Nas in the 90 bpm with a preemo beat, that's the ultimate cheat code (90bpm is like Jay's D'Evils's tempo) that's why we can all agree "3rd childhood" is one of the best songs on here and the Nas and AZ joint, hell they was having fun on that one. Something tells me that Preeme was saving "Writers" for Nas in the vault since the 90s. I'm talking about 95 while producing for Group Home and thinking to himself "nah ah, one day me and Nas will make an album together and in the event, i'm keeping this for him", it just sounds like something during that group home era and if he did, great, cuz THIS WAS CLASSIC PREEMO. "Nasty, Nas Esco" was a WELL EXECUTED concept and it also helps that he was in that right pocket (again, the D'Evil's bpm cheat code) so this is also an ALL TIMER as well. "My life is real" sounds like it could've been an opener to the "Wayans brothers" back in 97 which is also why i f*ck with it, people here dont mention it enough cuz it was the first track, they should've saved this one to be the 3rd, 4th track. Surprisingly the song i didn't feel and maybe i need to sit through it more is NYSOM 3... I WANT TO LIKE IT but wtf was that extra sh*t preemo did adding some unnecessary scary movie sample sh, if anything without it it would've been better. I dunno... maybe he was trying to be extra with it but i feel some of the beats on that ransom album would've fit Nas better and should've saved it for him like "amazing graces" would've been perfect as NYSOM 3, just straight GUTTA NY sh*t. The best beat preemo produced this year "The reinvention" would've fit Nas like a GLOVE, that would've been a great set up for a storytelling joint.

But overall the album is a solid 4 mics like i said earlier. There's levels between him and HIT BOY and Preemo past his prime shows you just HOW FAR those LEVELS are. It's like Kareem going to the finals one more time with Magic and still getting that chip. They did it brehs, they gave us a good one! :ahh:
