Album is dope to me. Nas still got the lyrics and flow. Preemo, just like with his project with Roc Marc, is expanding his production skills and not just giving you boom bap with dj scratch hooked phrases. And largely as a whole Nas is what people think Jay-z is or what they wish Andre 3000 was: an hip hop elder statesman carrying the music. Nas took Mass Appeal and turned it into a haven for previous generations of hip hop to be celebrated. And this album is an expression of love for the art form of hip hop. People wanted 15 tracks that all sound like Illmatic but Nas and Preemo have both grown and evolved since 94. And it shows. Dope album for real

I gotta sit with this album more later on but as I did a quick run through, I don't see/hear anything wrong with these beats. I just think many people wanted an album full of "Nas Is Like" type joints OR their ears have simply veered away from that classic Boom Bap style of Preme.:manny:
Yeah I had to do that just now. Beats sound solid after second run through.

There isn’t a major standout head bopping track, just a 15 song soundtrack to an NYC OG vibe.

Not what people expected, that’s where the disappointment came from I think. I was at the Alchmist x Preemo tour and none of these joints could be played there.

But I think “Define My Name” track is the vibe I expected on this tape. But it is more of a winter, slow burner NYC vibe

Just listened on headphones for the first time, and the shyt I disliked is a bit more forgiving, especially Welcome to the Underground - which I still am not very fond of.

GOAT is really goating on this though, I don't think I've seen any criticism of the mcing.

I swapped Welcome To The Underground out for Define My Name and moved Welcome To The Underground to the end. It works better as a closer because it is a strange track but Nas was spitting.

Define My Name fits in good cause it's upbeat and both NYSOM3 and Madman are downbeat

This shyt mid as fukk. Only liked about 3 songs.
The production on this shyt isn't wack, but its not good either. Everything about this shyt screams average. Nas is still spitting for the most part tho, but its just not enough. The AZ song is the best joint.

shyt feels like the eastcoast equivalent to that snoop n dre project where snoop rapping his ass off, but dre is trash.

It's crazy cuz Preme gave De La and Ransom better beats than this.
