Nas said in that Buddens interview he’s not really “boom bap rap”…what did y’all think of that? He has that on him because of Illmatic, etc… He is that and grew up loving and inspired by that but that’s not like his “thing”, he’s more street/gangsta/fly shhit. It’s like people saying Rae and Ghost are “boom bap” cause they’re in Wu-Tang or sumn like that, they are but they’re not, if you know what I’m saying. They’re street nigs with street, fly, get money ass raps.

That’s what the naysayers want from Nas, imo. But fukk them, respectfully lol, I was just thinking about them and why they’re never seemingly satisfied with the bodies of work. They want IWW 2, not even Illmatic 2, they want that street boss aesthetic, with some introspection lol. This album is an ode to exactly that shh they don’t want, 80s hip hop, boom bap type ish, if you’re not jackin that you probably won’t jack the album…mainly the production. 🤷🏽‍♂️. This album is amazing, it’s better than good and sounds better every time I listen

Nas has also said he’s not a Gangsta rapper.

I think its just not wanting to be put in a box. Nasty Esco Nasir puts the point in the best context.

it's fine, listenable. a pleasant piece of mid.
it's kind of got a charming corny old man quality to it. the man just loves hip-hop and is appreciative of his life right now

My Life Is Real
Pause Tapes
It's Time
My Story Your Story

are all very good

wasted one of the better beats on the album with that goofy crypto song
hated him bragging about investing in ring cameras on NYSOM3

how he sounds on this album convinced me he's been using AI on his features for the Mass Appeal album run

Not gangsta…just fly street, I think the “naysayers” and older heads you see complaining, that’s the Nas they’re craving for, pause, they just can’t word it.

Ran this back while driving and stuck in traffic. This shyt is fire kid. lol. No way around it. Once u get used to the sound of it it hooks u. I’m NEVER gonna like NYSOM 3 tho.
I even like that jawn now, for real. It’s a little weird but once you catch the bop you catch it. Weird, horror movie type vibes a little bit lol, might be just me

Speaking of Eminem, I wouldn’t have really wanted/needed him on Daughters but I think he would have fit perfectly on “Writers”. He is fascinated by/in love with 80s hip hop too, I’m sure he woulda jumped on that immediately
