Who hated it, because people were hyped when it came out. And the record is only a year old

You didn't see the posts before the album came out in this thread? Everyone was criticizing it. Even DJ Premier said he was getting a hard time on social media for it. The production was getting criticized heavily.

And it came out in April 2024. It's about to be 2026. 20 months ago = almost two years ago.

Being a self-appointed "stan" doesn't necessarily mean that the music is being made for you though.

If you feel comfortable enough telling GOAT's what their albums "should be", you're not a day one fan, lol. Saying you don’t like something, is fine. But Nas and Premier determine what the album should be. And for us actual day one fans, we appreciate the album because they accomplished what they set out to do. Which is why so many of the OG's are speaking on why this isn't for "outsiders".

Nas has dropped plenty of projects I didn't like. But I can't tell my bro what his album "should be" and or tell Preem he "didn't come with it". Says who? Mad of us are loving this sh*t. So if you don't like it, just say you don’t like it. But don’t tell these GOAT's they didn't do their job. Because they did.
no where did I say what it should be, I said it isnt up to the quality it should have been production wise thats all

I havent posted a new post in here in 2 days because I have really wanted to settle in with the album.

I feel about the way I did 3 days ago. I guess the positive if youre a nas fan is this overall is a beautiful album thats an ode to hip hop with nas rapping as high quality as he ever has....Nas was incredible.

With that said I wish the album started at writers (best track on album) went those 9 tracks and then added 3-4 other really good tracks....

my thing is this, if you ever wanted to see how great nas truly is look no further than this album and I dont think thats a great thing for the overall album- the production just isnt good enough.

Beats that IMO are good enough to be on here:

1. Writters
2. Sons
3. Its time
4. Boquet
5. 3rd childhood

the rest are decent and then theres 2-3 that are straight up rly bad which hurts to say/

I will give one more crituqe, it really hurts this album that the worst tracks are in the beginning- in the era we have you gotta start your album off strong or people turning it off in the streaming era . Even me, if im trying a new album that I only have some interest in I may do the same to an artist.

album for me is 4/5 but its due to a 10/10 nas performance . This albums like lebron putting up 50 in game 1 of that finals

that or grafiti and they are right back to back
That's a powerful run. I'm a bit let down the Writers concept and the names were brought to Nas, but it is what it is. He did an amazing job with the graffiti tagging/namedropping concept and it's a monster track. It's a movie. But as for Sons, I'm not gonna lie in the recent years the hip hop scene has just been a struggle to keep up with. You either had something that felt washed and a rehash that's been done a thousand times or on the other hand you had mass produced ignorant trash. But tracks like Sons definitely give you that feeling of hearing DJ Premier and Nas for the first time. It's just what I needed to realize this stuff can still be beautiful art. Just giving the fans that feeling again is a huge service from Premier and Nas. I hope they do another one.

Wild thing is I love the crypto song. But..... I also have a Crypto wallet, a business owner and a portfolio. I really think it hits people who can relate. Young cats I figured would feel this track atleast for that. Not getting or feeling graffiti, female MCs, or Young kings I can see for those who just can not relate.

I actually like this better than his last releases. Im shocked honestly that cats dont like this. Id need an age and experience check for any listener for this piece. No shade but it's not for everyone. No way to get it unless you get it...

Everybody hated "Define My Name." There were people here scared to death that it would be on the album. It also wouldn't make sense to put a song that came out almost two years ago on this album.

I really liked it. I brought the vinyl single.

But it didn’t make sense to include it on the album like you said. Too old. And it was never meant to be included
