You are right but as someone who has done marketing for label i can tell you Mass Appeal barely scratch the surface, they don’t put that much effort in, Nas could do 50-60k with a mix of the right marketing and features.

I agree. As a fan i wish they would because i enjoy the interviews. If i didn't follow my favorite artists on IG and pop on the coli some....i wouldnt even know some of these albums are dropping lol.

If somebody asked you if Nas does 100k or 5k in 2025, you really think it would be 100k?

C'mon now breh :francis:

This generation's artists ain't even doing 100k like that.
5k waaay too low that's like Kreayshawn numbers, no way they only do that. King's Disease 2 did like 60k first week so yeah I'd sooner believe Nas would do 100k over 5k. I'm predicting somwhere in the 20k range at the end of the day.

I don't want to veer too far off the thread here, but to be clear, I think a new Jay-Z album would have a very strong first week. But compared to his wife and his old albums, it wouldn't be close to that, and that IMO would be the issue.

But I am only speculating.
The clipse did 118k

Jay doing triple that

Yea you using one hit wonders that haven't put out music in over 10 years as examples.

You definitely would be a person to think Nas doing 100k first week. :snoop:

Kinda random/weird to use KDII as a metric when that wasn't even his most recent album prior to Light Years.

Nas is obviously a legend and sales aren’t the most important thing but this is a music site and sales will always be discussed.
In an alternate timeline where the Hit Boy series spawned numerous hits, each album sold more than the last and Define My Name was a critical and commercial smash leading up to this album being declared an instant classic and selling 200K first week it would have been the happiest this board has been in decades.
Instead we’ve got people writing long essays about how if you didn’t once have a secret handshake with Big Bank Hank then it’s basically a spit in Nas and Primos face to even listen to this album.

They continually changing the rules. Now they gonna stop counting Youtube numbers. At one point they stopped counting sales from artists websites when that's how independent artists make their money.

This album they sold $150,000 worth of limited edition vinyls before it even dropped. So that's the revenue equivalent of 15,000 regular sales before day one. And they sold out multiple other versions of the vinyl, CDs and tapes already on the website. Probably already recouped on day one but the Coli armchair A&Rs waiting to pounce :mjlol:
This era is literally bogus :mjlol:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I get the feeling ALC is in full control of putting those albums together and those guys just rhyme over the beats.

Nas seems like he will want more of a hand in the process if he signed off on a collab
No way. Especially not with Roc. Roc is a producer himself there’s no way he’s just letting that happen. lol.
