The beats are what I expected. The lyrics are what I expected. They did what they were supposed to. I'm not sure what you guys been expecting. They sounded like what they been sounding like for the last 20-30 years.

It's boom bap rap. They don't do anything else.

Hear me out now, back in the days, it sure was a time
Hear me out if I've been your age and you haven't been mine
As we get older and time great turns into mediocre
Good turns into so-so, bad just means that it could be better
I wrote a letter to the judge from Prince
A sharp minded man who thought his way about the pens
Corporations are not the genius that created gangster rap
Never give 'em credit for that, we made it that
I assisted Hip-Hop 50 to that worldy stage
And brought Kool Herc on stage
I made sure that Hip Hop Museum got paid
Matter fact, anything my name is involved with
Positivity revolves in it
Serendipitous, always move with confidence
You may not see me sweat, but trust, yo, I work hard for this
Grew up around heroin addicts before that crack shyt
Crack was light compared to what the smack did
Y'all play with marbles, we play with dope fiend needles we found
Injected worms when the rain brought 'em up from the ground
It's nothin' changin', some of my men
We go back like daylight savings
My third childhood, that third course, that's the main dish
Hope we get dessert, that's the cherry on top
Peaceful Sundays, but we still carry the Glocks, registered
If you made it this far, then it's all good

It makes me proud, I love that we goin' out hood

:ahh:

Why Premo recycled the chorus though:francis:

One of my favorite verses on the album. Aside from his rhymes, the delivery is also what separates Nas from his peers.

Dope Premo beat too.

I listened to this album and enjoyed it from top to bottom! One thing you can't deny is that Nas loves hip-hop in all shapes and sizes. That is what makes him not only one of the best but one most of the most respected MC's ever. Premo did his thing on here as well! The only one that had me a bit confused was NY State of Mind III. I'm not a fan of the production on that song. It felt so off for me. Other than that, everything else was solid.

Yeah album is fire. It’s crazy people act like Alfredo 2 is some classic shyt when Freddy gives you standard slightly above average gangster rap and then turn around and nitpick everything Nas does even though conceptually and lyrically he’s operating at a way higher level. Now you could argue that Alchemist laced Freddy with better beats than Preme did on here but even if that’s true (I’d have to relisten to Alfredo 2) it’s still not enough to warrant the p*ssy ass level of nitpicking I’ve seen about this album.
