I think the concept of the album as a tribute to hip hop and given Nas mentality about the old school even with hhid and the old direction on singles he was going with Salaam means it’s theme wise it’s this.
Sonically Preems been on cruise control for 20 years but nobody says much because average Preem is still good

People are only complaining about it now cause I think they thought he had some godly shyt saved for Nas

Premier at his peak is the definition of classic hip hop. He couldn't miss. You can throw on those joints at any time and they still sound as good and genius as ever. This is not on that level.

He has worked wonders on lesser mcees on even average songs. He didnt bring his A/B game n this. The project is underwhelming on lot of levels.

I wanted this one years ago and with Nas going on a few years long run with Hit I wanted somethign different. This album was cool off the first few listens and need to go back today and listen again. It was okay though, not what it could have been IMO but for what it was it was good.
Damn I wish this happened in 06 or so though when it was first mentioned.

I get the sense that both Nas and Preme felt the lukewarm reception and mixed reviews from fans and they just want to move on.

It's unfortunate but I don't blame them. I still think it's a very dope album.

That was a funny style move, to me.

Other producers have been sampled, and they just let the project drop and keep quiet in the beginning.

This dude couldn't wait to start talking. That was corny AF.

I agree with the first sentence…that one isn’t close at this point, imo.

Disagree with the 2nd. In terms of averages and percentages…I can name some guys with greater discographies. Kendrick, Kanye, for starters. If you condensed Nas discography down to like his 4-5 best albums then yeah, now we’re talking. I’ll put Esco’s Top 5 up against any artist’s Top 5, confidently

Kanye doesn’t have a better discography than Nas with overhyped bullshyt like Yeezus, Donda and outright bullshyt like those Vultures abominations to his name.
