This is not true at all except IWW getting disrespected

Nas only has 4 classics and this is coming from someone who has him in his top 5. His discography is hella flawed

OutKast also didn't get respect until Aquemni.

"ONLY" 4 classics? Sorry, but that's just a ridiculous statement. Any artist from any genre would kill for at least 1 classic album.

Nas definitely has the GOAT discography. I don't even see how it's debatable. And miss me with the Kanye talk. If you don't write your own rhymes then wtf are we even talking about?

Aquemini was everywhere. I don't think it was better than Southernplayalistic, or ATLiens, but it's the album that made them household names. Even with a lawsuit. No one was disrespecting that album. You said "only 4 classics". ONLY?? Some rappers have none. Biggie doesn't have 4 classic albums or even 4 albums period. DMX doesn't have 4 classics. Wutang Clan(as a group) doesn't have 4 classics. And neither does Eminem.

Of course you can't make the comparison to rappers who don't have that many albums in their discography
Nas has 17 albums in his discography of course he's going to have some mid

I know you're trolling but

Illmatic
It Was Written
Lost Tapes
Life Is Good
not trolling at all

illmatic is it

Life is good & lost tapes are Nas classics but not hiphop classics at all.

nas stans credit the source for five mics with illmatic. But the source changed scores for albums they were wrong about. They did not change IWW. IWW has 5 classics songs and just some cool records. Nas don’t even celebrate that album lol

I fully agree. Idlewild is in no way a bad album. I don't think Outkast has ever made a bad album, but's it's not a classic and they don't get the disrespect as Nas got for IWW(which was a great album). Guys like Nas get graded on the Harvard standard of grading. Nas has to release a 10/10 classic album or it's trash. Even if it's a classic album, if he has 1 or 2 songs people don't like, they will trash the entire album(a few did it in 01 for "braveheart party"). I've never seen another artist in hip hop history get that kind of scrutiny.

Well its hard to compare the hip hop climate of Nas releasing his second album in 96 to Outkast releasing their sixth album in 2006. The climates in Hip Hop were MUCH different but to Nas credit, he followed his inclinations, allowed Steve Stoute to guide him, was a team player and worked with the Track Masters, and ended up becoming a superstar in his own right. And the facts of the matter is that now more than twenty years later It Was Written is almost universally looked at as a classic album. Rolling Stone went from giving it s 2-Star review in 96 to including it on their list of 500 Greatest Rap Albums and re-rating it 4 stars (the same the rating they gave Illmatic) in 2022. Nas music and discography as a whole has stood the test of time beautifully. In ten years time people will go back and re-evaluate the Hit-Boy era as one of the greatest runs of albums by an artist in modern music history. Nas has done a phenomenal job of future proofing his legacy.

Idlewild won’t be re-evaluated so fondly, and even though the movie itself is an underrated gem, Outkast really didn’t have to do “much” after they’d already cemented their legacies with the astronomical success of Speakerboxx/The Love Below. There wasn’t much riding on the success of Idlewild the way Nas literally had his career on the line with the release of IWW. He took a gamble and, even though some dusty boom bap backpackers felt slighted, the masses embraced it. I’ve always contended that without IWW, Nas is in Europe right now opening up for Jeru The Damaja and O.C. In some London nightclub. I’m glad he took the moment to maximize his potential as an artist.

What other rapper can legitimately claim they have FOUR bonafide classic albums in their discography? Its a short list i’ll tell you that. Nas, Outkast, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and who else? Scarface? Cube? Hov? Whichever you’d argue is their fourth would be debatable.

To say Nas discography is “flawed” and then concede he’s got four CLASSIC albums is a weird argument to make. Especially considering the 7 album run of quality he just went on in half a decade.

It is flawed 4 out of 17 albums
The rest of those rappers you named don't nearly have that many albums in the discography

Do they get points for not trying? Lol

And there's a difference between flawed and trash. Like, Life Is Good has SUMMER ON SMASH on it which is a flaw, but that's a great album. The HIT RUN is great, with a few minor flaws.

Shyt I AM is a flawed but great album.
