Purple, black zombies and doo rags were unheard ...and I wanna say everybody's crazy too...everything else was on bootlegs or mixtapes before...if lost tapes 2 ever really drops I'd bet on that ratio being reversed. ..he's had less shyt leak in the years since

I had Black Zombies and Doo Rags already but Purple, My Way and Nothing lasts Forever were the new ones fro me. As far as his recent excellent quality control. That is an accurate statement but that has happened since his time with Def Jam and no one really knows how much of his Def jam material is going to be on the next installment. Sony is back on Nas team so, although I hope I am wrong, I am assuming it will be heavier with material from the Sony days.

I really look forward to discussion on this topic and thats another reason I re upped the thread. The older forums had a lot of very knowledgeable members who would chime in and contribute good info to the thread. Sometimes, it would result in someone upping a better version of an unreleased nas track that we may already have in our stash. I'm guessing nothing is happening until he completes his work with Def Jam though. I wouldn't expect if before the fall.

On another note, I've always been intrigued by the online description of 2004's version of the Lost Tapes 2 that was scrapped. It mentioned having studio remixes and freestyles on their, in addition to unreleased tracks that were cut from albums.

Nah, I know 'Drunk By Myself', and 'Blaze a 50' were out there, so was 'No Ideas Original', (at least the lyrics) but were 'Gotta Love It', 'My Way', and 'Nothing Lasts Forever'? I have this idea those were previously unheard as well, and they were some of the major tracks.

"Gotta Love It" was on a bootleg, I think.

Gotta Love it was on a bootleg but it was a sped up version so with the Lost Tapes, we finally got a quality version with the correct pitch. I always bring this up so I'm gonna put it out here now. I once saw a Lost Tapes track listing at the, then Tower records site and along with all the tracks that appeared on the final version of the album, it also had Nas's unreleased tracks You Don't Know Me, Your Mouth Got You In It and My Worst Enemy Is Me. I happened to really like each of those songs and I would've greatly appreciated that version. I was hoping that that was going to be the Japanese version but sadly it wasn't. I think that the final version of the album was outstanding but I would've also appreciated those quality unreleased tracks also being officially released.

I read that the record label sends out multiple track list to through off bootleggers but since we know that those tracks do exist, I can think we can assume with a high degree of certainty that those tracks were seriously considered for release with the album at one point. Thus, they may still be highly considered for the next one... although there is obviously tons of new material to chose from. This brings up another point that I want to make about these Lost Tapes. The longer it takes for another volume to be released, the more tracks Nas will have to chose from since he is often in the studio making tracks but somewhat slow to release studio albums. With this being said, As time goes on, the less likely we are to hear some of the older Nasty Nas material because it put farther and father down on the list with new material piling up. That sucks!!

nas had nothing to do with the first lost tapes, it was all columbia and an accidental success.

I hope he don't fuk it up. I always said the biggest problem with nas is not is poor choice of beats, but his poor choice of tracks. Anyway, I will not hold my breath, Imma beleive it when there will be an official release date and promo for it

You could be right but I don't know if I believe that and m I find that to be a little strange. If the label released it on their own and it was obviously successful, why didn't they do the follow up? They had it on schedule but canceled it. Why? Labels are greedy and with Nas taking plenty of time between releases, they had ample time to drop it.
