nah man. he worded it in such a way that white people can be like "see, it wasnt all our fault. africans are to blame too".
:ehh:

Yeah I kinda see why some members have said that comment rubbed them the wrong way.
They feel it gives white people some kind of out.

I looked at it like...well it's factually true. It doesn't absolve white people though, especially considering the horrors they inflicted on the continent. Especially in the Congo, where the Belgians were notoriously evil.

:wow: and Chris Rock got teared in his eye.

It makes me wonder how they're thinking when they used the N word in their songs, stand-up, etc like deep down "I should be ashamed of myself for using the N word" because the N word was invented by white men, toward your ancestors.
I know how these nikkas feel.

I don't believe any of us should be using that word...

it's in our culture now, but wrong.....

and i say nikka All the time with close friends. Not with anyone else tho

:ahh: eventually we need to progress and be conscious of the way we speak......even if we do have knowledge of self.

It always irritates me whenever some white person brings up Africans selling other Africans into slavery.

Like dat's sposed to somehow excuse da following hundreds of years of torture, rape, mutilation, and murder. Absolutely can't fukkin stand dat bullshyt. :beli:

I hate when it is brought up too. They say it as if they arrived in Africa and saw a large slave sale going on. As if the whole slave trade thing wouldn't have happened

if the evil Africans weren't selling each other. To me, this implication is the whole reason it is brought up.

My belief is that when they arrived, they said to the these Africans, "You are coming back home with me. You can either ride up top, or down below"!

Those ones chose the former by selling out their own. :manny:

Nah African's had slaves for many centuries before the slave trade it's just something humans do, everyone had slaves. It doesn't negate the evils of the Arab and Transatlantic slave trades but it's a reality :manny:
Every group of people has had slaves.
But one of the tactics they did use to get slaves captured was pitting different villages against each other and sometimes these villages would have beef so they'd say whatever and go capture them for the traders. and trade them for resources like muskets and textiles. The europeans started a lot of wars that way.

Eh Not really.
A sarcastic response about Paltrow and a track about how you're viewed within your race dont contradict an awarness of yourself and your race and a lot of the initiatives he's been behind in recent years
